We Want Mommy, Not You, Daddy!
Chapter 96
Ridley’s POV
After her silhouette disappeared from view, I finally stepped out of the car and leaned against the door, lighting a cigarette. I rarely smoke, but right now, only the burning tobacco could chase away the tightness in my chest.
My three children… I only learned of their existence after they were a month old. Initially, I hadn’t welcomed these unexpected arrivals
into my life, but now, those three little people had become irreplaceable parts of my existence.
Each time I witnessed Cedar’s raw vulnerability, I was forced to acknowledge that perhaps this woman meant something different to me.
Something I wasn’t prepared to name.
That’s why I had finally told her the truth about my three kids. For a brief moment in the car, I had almost asked her if she would
consider being a mother to them. But reason quickly suppressed that impractical thought.
What right did I have to burden an innocent woman with my complicated life?
I took one last deep drag from the cigarette before grinding it out in the nearby trash receptacle. I had promised Irene that I would only ever marry her. Irene was gone now, which meant I would never marry anyone else and have children.
That’s why Mom had brought the three Sterling children into our family the way she did.
I guessed fate had decided I’d be alone.
Cedar’s POV
I spent the entire night in a fog, drifting in and out of dreams. In those dreams, three children surrounded me, calling me “Mommy‘ over
and over.
But I could only clearly see Aiden and Aria. When I woke up, desperately trying to remember, even their faces began to blur in my
memory.
I must be losing my mind.
To have such ridiculous dreams. Earlier, I had criticized Daisy for wanting to be a stepmother to Ridley’s children, yet here I was, essentially doing the same thing.
For all I knew, Ridley was secretly mocking me, thinking I was deliberately trying to get close to him…
I rubbed my temples as I got out of bed, facing the day with dark circles under my eyes. And I had to use my lunch break to purchase a birthday gift for my adoptive grandpa before returning to work.

Chapter 96
At six o’clock, I headed downstairs with the gift in hand, planning to make a brief appearance at the celebration before leaving. As soon as I exited the elevator, I spotted a familiar black cat outside the building entrance the same one that had driven me home last night
I considered pretending I hadn’t seen it, but Albert stepped out from the driver’s seat with a deferential smile. Ms. Wright, over here?
With a resigned sigh, I approached the car. Through the tinted window, I could make out the silhouette of the man in the back seat.
“Does Mr. Sterling have instructions for me?” I asked with a polite smile.
“Ms. Wright, Mr. Sterling is heading to the Elegance Hotel for your grandfather’s birthday celebration. Since you’re going to the same
place, he thought you might like a ride,” Albert explained while respectfully opening the rear door.
I hesitated. Could I refuse?
I was genuinely afraid of sharing a car with this man again.
“Are you just going to stand there? Should I personally invite you in?” Ridley turned his head, his expression unreadable.
With no way to gracefully decline, I ducked into the car beside him.
“Where are Aiden and Aria?” I asked, surprised. “I thought they wanted to attend the celebration too.”
“Aiden is handling something at the office. Aria just started rehearsals for her recital and couldn’t make it,” Ridley replied flatly before turning his attention to the window, ending the conversation.
The car fell silent.
Albert drove while soft, melancholy love songs played through the speakers, making the atmosphere even more strange. Thankfully, perhaps because Albert was present, Ridley didn’t make any unexpected moves.
I released a quiet sigh of relief.
Twenty minutes later, the car pulled up to the hotel. While not the largest venue, it was an elegant four–star establishment that had been rented out for my grandfather’s birthday. The guest list included all the Wright family relatives, plus former business partners of Wright
Creatives.
Given that Wright Creatives was on the verge of collapse, I couldn’t imagine how Jonathan had managed to convince these partners to
attend.
As soon as the black car stopped at the hotel entrance, a crowd gathered around it.
“Mr. Sterling! I’m Jonathan Wright of Wright Creatives,” my adoptive father said with obvious obsequiousness, his face a mask of desperate
hope.

I could practically see the excitement spreading across Jonathan’s features. With Ridley Sterling personally attending the celebration, be probably thought Wright Creatives might be saved.
“Mr. Sterling, I wasn’t sure you’d come. Please, come inside!” Selena approached with a flirtatious smile, her eyes filled with transparent
admiration.
