The missing piece was...
She did not mention Luna’s marriage to Ren... And it wasn’t an oversight.
It was a calculated, deliberate omission. That was a deeply personal revelation that belonged entirely to Luna. It was a truth the princess had the right to deliver on her own terms, in her own time, not a bullet point to be rattled off in a military debrief.
At the very end of her report, Selphira addressed the one agonizing truth Sirius was desperately waiting to hear.
"Lykea... is very possible."
Selphira spoke the words with care, terrified of offering a promise she couldn’t guarantee. "But you are going to have to be patient. The boy completely shattered his own limits down there. He burned a massive amount of energy. That is not an easy process, and trying to force it while his core is recovering would be infinitely worse and riskier than simply waiting for his full recovery and the right moment."
She let that sink in.
"Your resurrection was not even a safe process, it was an absolute emergency. Selthia made a direct move to your chamber, and it is a sheer, unbelievable miracle that you survived the forced process intact." A heavy pause settled over the room. "But you can count on him to do it for her. Though, I’m sure you already know that..."
Selphira’s eyes locked onto Sirius’s, her tone dropping, carrying a profound, undeniable weight. "And remember, you owe that boy vastly more than just a simple ’thank you’."
Sirius slowly turned his head. He looked at Luna for a long, silent moment.
Then, he nodded.
He already knew what Luna wanted.
♢♢♢♢
Just before they stepped out into the hallway to visit Ren’s room, Selphira held up a hand, stopping Luna.
"Notify me the exact moment he wakes up," Selphira instructed Luna. She used the exact same measured tone she had used when requesting updates on Sirius. "In the exact same way..."
Matilda was already running through the castle, diligently notifying the long list of people who had demanded to know the second Sirius opened his eyes. The castle’s communication network was already fully active.
Matilda would be back soon and Selphira’s request was essentially a formality at this point. But she spoke it anyway, because when Selphira delivered a formality, it carried the undeniable weight of something critically important. And Luna looked incredibly distracted today...
Luna gave a tight nod of confirmation.
Sirius bid Victor a brief, respectful goodbye, moving with the quiet stiffness of a man who was still manually gathering the scattered pieces of his reality.
