Selphira was furious and initiated the main engagement.
Riding on the back of Sirius’s towering light tiger, she launched a catastrophic, freezing shockwave directly into the ground. A massive front of absolute zero ice swept toward the ethereal dome, carrying enough raw output to instantly paralyze the mechanical artifact and the remaining Platinum mutants anchoring the center of the enemy formation.
But Selthia utilized the remaining half of her Platinum phalanx instantly with synchronized movements. She didn’t rely solely on the artifact’s raw durability... Operating the horde as a single, unified organism, she easily countered with a hyper-dense barrier of fire mana.
The huge wave of ice and the roaring wall of corrupted fire collided in the dead center of the courtyard, mutually annihilating each other in a deafening, blinding explosion of superheated steam.
Hovering just above the clash, Ren analyzed the energy exchange. A cold knot formed in his stomach. He absolutely did not like what he was seeing.
During the initial skirmishes on the outer perimeter, the elemental attacks utilized by the mutants had been mostly mediocre for their Platinum rank. The beasts had only recently acquired the elemental affinities, and the corrupted runic arrays feeding their spells had been relatively crude.
But now, operating under the hyper-dense concentration of the ethereal dome, the mutants’ runic buffs were becoming exponentially more complex. Their elemental control was rapidly evolving.
All this was happening too fast...
It was scaling at a rate that was genuinely terrifying. The mutants anchoring the dome weren’t just blindly throwing fire anymore; they were actively learning. They were refining their output and Selthia was coordinating their biological hardware with a flawless, hive-mind capacity that they simply hadn’t possessed an hour ago.
Sirius immediately recognized the deadlock of elemental warfare and pivoted. He abandoned the elemental advantage chart entirely to try and bypass the dome’s reactive defenses.
He seamlessly fused Light and Darkness, his absolute specialty, a volatile, contradictory mixture that virtually no one else on the planet could ’elementally’ counter. He fired the devastating, spiraling beam of chaotic energy directly at the mechanical artifact, specifically hunting for a weakness in the back side of the flesh controlling the ancient joints.
Selthia casually parried that execution too. She smoothly interposed one of the indestructible metallic appendages, absorbing the otherwise catastrophic impact without the chassis even flinching.
The artifact possessed too many independent arms, and its reaction time was virtually instantaneous. If the six Tamers didn’t strike the chassis with devastating, synchronized force from multiple blind spots simultaneously, it would be near impossible to inflict permanent damage.
And relying on elemental weaknesses was a completely lost cause as long as the Platinum phalanx was actively supporting the artifact. The massive volume of mutated beasts amplified by the ethereal dome possessed a hard counter for every single element on the board. And whatever the mutants couldn’t naturally deflect, the indestructible artifacts casually blocked.
So, Ren aggressively shifted the paradigm.
"The tower is still standing," Ren ordered, his eyes rapidly scanning the battlefield geometry. "The structural integrity of the adamantium armor has plenty of margin left. We do not need to actively babysit the castle gates right now. If we cannot punch straight through the center and execute the artifact, we use the left time on the tower to dismantle the smaller mutants first."
He pointed toward the organized ranks of mutants.
"We focus entirely on the Platinum fodder. If we systematically slaughter the herd, the artifact loses its localized elemental defense network. It won’t have the bandwidth to deflect wide-area crowd control effects like Selphira’s absolute zero. We thin the herd, we cripple the formation, and we strip away its defense."
It was the correct tactical read. They couldn’t shatter the impenetrable center, so they had to systematically devour the formation from the weaker edges.
Ren instantly began to accumulate his internal reserves.
His system capacity to safely harbor the primordial dragon energy was superior to the others, and the terrifying volume he was currently holding manifested physically. His aura, usually a blinding, starlight white, visibly expanded and mutated. His eyes burned with an intense jade light, heavily saturated with the golden, primordial power he had extracted from the ruins.
The atmospheric pressure around his body violently warped. The air crackled with intense, localized electrostatic discharges, popping and hissing as if the physical atmosphere itself was struggling to contain the catastrophic output he was generating.
