I reached my cell, still smiling, and gently pushed open the curtain.

Tony was lying on his bed, eyes closed.

“Where’ve you been?” he asked, opening them slowly.

“Helping Elijah with his man,” I replied playfully, throwing myself on top of him.

Tony wrapped his arms around my waist with a sigh.

“You shouldn’t get involved, baby. I’m scared the boss will hurt you.”

He kissed my hair tenderly.

“I didn’t go that far,” I laughed softly. “I just made Elijah seem like he was dying in his cell. It was hilarious to see the Reaper panic–he ran like a madman.”

He chuckled softly.

“A man in love will do anything.”

He kissed my hair again; I hugged him close.

“They remind me of us sometimes. It’s strange.”

Tony sighed deeply.

“I was worse than the boss… I know he doesn’t treat Elijah as cruelly as I treated you. Even though you forgave me, I still feel like garbage.”

I lifted my head and kissed his lips.

“That’s in the past, baby. Now only the future matters.”

I kissed his chin, feeling the familiar warmth that always brought me peace.

He smiled, tipped his face up, and kissed me slowly.

“I have something to tell you… Something I’ve never told you,” he said.

I raised an eyebrow, curious.

“The reason I stayed with the boss wasn’t just because he beat me and took my spot as leader… it runs deeper than that.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, attentive.

Tony took a deep breath.

“He told me that if I wanted to get out of here, I’d have to join his cartel.”

“Cartel?” I repeated, confused.

He chuckled at my reaction.

“It’s extremely dangerous. You always thought he was just a mob boss… But it’s way deeper than that, baby. He controls big operations, and I’ve learned a lot from him since then. Once he gets out, he’s taking me with him. And since he knows we’re together, he’ll take you too.”
