Chapter 75

Elijah Vaughn.

We stayed quiet for a few minutes, enjoying each other’s warmth.

His hand moved gently up and down my back in a lazy caress.

“Oh, I forgot to ask… How old are you, Dante?”

He raised an eyebrow, amused.

“I’m forty.”

My eyes widened in surprise, making him laugh.

“What? Am I too old for you, bunny?” He teased, smirking. “How old are you?”

I blinked, still processing it.

“I’m twenty,” I answered with a soft sigh. “It’s just… I didn’t expect you to be forty. You look, at most, thirty–seven

He let out a low chuckle, his eyes sparkling with amusement and pride.

“Good thing I don’t look ancient. I’ve always taken care of myself. Didn’t want to grow old like those crusty fifty–year–olds with wrinkles and aching joints.

He leaned closer, his fingers tracing gently along my cheek.

“And you… still so young. A baby to me.”

My face heated up, but his joke about aging drew a quiet laugh from me.

The movement, though, pulled at the sore muscles in my stomach, and a sharp groan escaped my lips.

He immediately tightened his hold, concern flashing across his face.

“Careful, bunny. Don’t push yourself. You’re still healing.”

His worried tone made me smile, even through the pain.

“It’s hard not to laugh when you talk like that.”

He chuckled quietly, clearly amused.

‘But it’s true.”

He continued stroking my hair absentmindedly.

‘I followed a few of those Asian health routines–you know, the ones where the guys are in their seventies and don’t look a day over fifty.”

I laughed lightly, trying not to aggravate the pain!

“I can’t picture it… You, the dangerous cartel leader, the most feared man in this prison, folowing skincare routines.”

He raised an eyebrow, clearly entertained.

“And why not, bunny? Just because I’m ruthless doesn’t mean I can’t take care of my health and skin.

“You can, sure.” I tried to hold back another laugh. ‘It’s just… weird, Dante,”

He rolled his eyes as I laughed again, but my laughter quickly turned into another pained groan.

*Stop laughing, bunny. You’re only making it worse.”

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

“Okay.”

I rested my head against his chest again, soaking in his warmth.

“What do you like to do, Dante? Besides taking care of your skin?” I teased, letting another soft laugh slip out.

“It helps clear my mind. The feeling of the wind on my skinit makes me feel alive,

“What kind of martial arts?

All kinds.”

He smirked, clearly proud.
