Chapter 99
Elijah Vaughn.
The cafeteria was busy, as always. The sound of cutlery scraping against trays and muffled conversations filled the air. As soon as we walked in, my eyes automatically scanned the room, searching for Fox:
It didn’t take long to find him.
He was sitting at a table, sunk into a miserable expression, his elbows propped up as he massaged his temples. The hangover was written all over his face in a way that was almost comical.
A laugh escaped me before I could hold it back.
I glanced at Dante beside me.
“Can I sit with him?”
The answer came without hesitation.
“Of course, bunny.”
Before I could walk away, he cupped the back of my neck and sealed our lips in a quick kiss.
“Wait, I’ll get your food. I don’t want you eating this cafeteria garbage.”
His authoritative tone made me smile.
Without delay, he crossed the cafeteria with confident strides, heading straight to Tony, who was already waiting with a prepared tray.
Watching him take care of me like that warmed something deep inside my chest.
It still felt surreal.
My heart fluttered with the memory of his words.
I love you.
Hearing that from his mouth, even before I’d said it first, stirred something indescribable inside me.
I never imagined someone like him could love me.
But what surprised me most was how natural it felt.
The truth was… Dante had become my world.
I couldn’t imagine life without him anymore.
I didn’t want to.
My heart raced.
Knowing he felt the same made everything more intense.
I had no family.
No one else.

Chapter 99
Except him.
And that was enough for me.
He returned, placing the tray in my hands before leaning down to kiss my forehead.
“Here you go, bunny.”
I smiled at him before making my way to Fox’s table, my chest still warm from that simple gesture of affection.
As soon as I sat down across from him, the blond lifted his gaze with difficulty, blinking slowly like the light itself was too much effort to process.
Looks like you two had a good night… His voice was rough, dragged down by evident discomfort. “Judging by your ‘fucked–all–night‘ face.”
A burst of laughter shipped out before I could stop it.
“Well… you’re not wrong.”
He shook his head with a weak chuckle but then groaned at the pain the movement caused.
And judging by your face, I’d say you’ve got one hell of a hangover.”
“Don’t even mention it… “F**k, my head’s killing me.”
I laughed harder as he rubbed his temples even more fiercely.
His blue eyes studied me for a moment before his smile turned sharper.
“But all this happiness isn’t just because you spent the night getting laid, right? Come on, spill it. What happened?”
The excitement on my face intensified.
I wanted to tell him.
I needed to.
The Reaper said he loves me.”
Fox froze.
“What?”
“That’s right. He loves me.”
The disbelief was almost palpable.
“And I told him I love him too… Because it’s true, Fox. I love him. Love him like hell.”
The next few seconds were filled with silence until he let out a low laugh, shaking his head.
“Well… congratulations. I’m happy for you guys.”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“But I’m still in shock knowing the Reaper’s actually capable of loving someone.”
I rolled my eyes at his dramatics.
Chapter 99
While I ete, my eyes wandered involuntarily across the cafeteria.
That’s when I saw them.

Dante.
And yet… something about the way they were watching him unsettled me.
Especially Predator.
There was a dangerous glint in his eyes, an intensity that made it clear this wasn’t simple curiosity.
Whatever it was… he wasn’t getting it.
And I love him.
Viper noticed too, his lips curling into a smile I didn’t like one bit.
Dante is mine.
And there’s nothing they can do to change that.
Not now. Never.
“What’s wrong? Why the face?”
