With a second toll of the Bell That Subdues Evil, Little White burst from Ye Yu’s arms and let out a pained, bestial roar at Taishi Xiaxin. In an instant, its true form was revealed beyond doubt: the body of a deer, the face of a goat, horns of an ox, and tail of a tiger; ten wings sprouted from its back—five black, five white—and its scarlet hide pulsed like seething blood qi. That cold, utterly brutal aura made every god present’s heart tremble. They knew this aura all too well: an Evil God—without question an Evil God—had infiltrated Wuzhong Mountain. Such a disgrace!
Taishi Xiaxin barked, “You insolent Ye Yu! No wonder you dared refine the Arrow of Divine Punishment. It wasn’t you who was the Evil God, but you who raised a divine beast into one! In its aura I sensed the flesh-and-blood Evil God Shen Kangren. Has Shen Kangren possessed this beast... or has this beast devoured Shen Kangren?”
Ye Yu said nothing, his brow creasing tightly. Damn—he almost forgot. After devouring Shen Kangren, Little White had inherited much of his power. Strictly speaking, it had become an Evil Divine Beast. And to the gods of Wuzhong Mountain, there was no distinction: any Evil Divine Beast was as reviled as an Evil God. They would show it zero mercy. Today, without fail, Little White could not leave alive.
Ye Yu’s mind raced for a way out. Though he had broken into the Heavenly God Realm, against nearly a hundred gods he stood no chance alone. His only hope was to join forces with Little White and carve a bloody path before the others could react. Yet Little White was clearly suppressed—between its agonized roar and now frozen stillness, only two breaths had passed. Wuzhong Mountain’s guardian treasure was aptly named!
Seeing Ye Yu silent, Taishi Xiaxin’s lips curved in scorn. In his eyes Ye Yu was nothing but a cornered animal. “If you refuse to speak, then stay silent. Surrender, and I may spare your life. Resist and you will surely die!” Tian Jingzhe beside him nodded slightly, and the surrounding gods closed in. Some even murmured Wuzhong Mountain’s oath under their breath: “Evil Gods must die!” Once one spoke, the others followed—it was their unshakable creed.
Ye Yu did not bother explaining—what use? “I shouldn’t have to explain to any of you,” he thought. With a thought, the freshly refined Arrow of Divine Punishment whipped around him, forcing back the approaching gods. Taishi Xiaxin, however, formed a secret seal with both hands and the arrow froze in midair. No surprise—Taishi Xiaxin had tampered with the artifact.
Ye Yu surged forward, pulling out the Evil God’s Terminus and pulling its trigger. Three thousand arrows rained down like a gale of steel, each more powerful than the last. Taishi Xiaxin’s gaze had been fixed on the Arrow of Divine Punishment—he had no time to react. Yet not one arrow struck him. Just as they were about to hit, a phantom of the Bell That Subdues Evil appeared, blocking every bolt.
