A moment later, led by Ban Xia, Ye Yu arrived at the Twenty-Ninth Chamber of the Three Corps Hall.
At the entrance, they saw the Demon Heavenly Lord (Mo Tian Jun) already waiting, a thorned branch strapped across his back, looking rather comical.
“Fellow Immortal Ye,” he greeted, “since we parted in the eastern Celestial Realm, your brother has missed you greatly. It was my fault—too hasty to seek help—so I left you alone back then. Now I see you’ve turned misfortune into blessing and grown even stronger. I truly rejoice for you!”
Ye Yu could not help laughing at the words. Seek help? To spout such outrageous nonsense with a straight face—Mo Tian Jun really had thick skin. Was he expecting Ye Yu to believe it?
Ye Yu said nothing, instead strode forward, taking in the newly built surroundings. One had to admit, those evil immortals in the Three Corps Hall might be brutal, but at least they had good taste. The palace they constructed was grand and imposing.
Mo Tian Jun bowed slightly and followed, his eyes scanning Ye Yu’s aura. Through spiritual transmission he asked Ban Xia, What does Ye Yu intend here? She ignored him—she truly did not know Ye Yu’s purpose. Kill him? It did not seem so, or he would have struck already, not waited until now.
Mo Tian Jun grew uneasy and cast her a resentful glance. In barely an hour, their positions had reversed completely: the first time Ban Xia came, she sought Mo Tian Jun’s help; now the roles were inverted. Such is the impermanence of the world.
Tao Huanming, steward of the Twenty-Ninth Chamber, held a paper fan and trailed silently behind Mo Tian Jun. Soon the party entered the main hall. Ye Yu took the central seat without invitation.
Tao Huanming’s brow furrowed—was that seat reserved for himself? Mo Tian Jun, as top leader, might sit anywhere, but how dare Ye Yu be so presumptuous? He opened his mouth to remonstrate but was silenced by Mo Tian Jun’s glance and fell silent.
Just as Mo Tian Jun was about to take a side seat, Ye Yu spoke, “Don’t sit yet.”
Mo Tian Jun paused awkwardly, rising from the stool. “Fellow Immortal Ye, do you have any orders?”
“No orders exactly. But think back: we’ve known each other months now, back when you were only at the Immortal Lord realm. You watched me grow and aided me greatly. It wouldn’t be wrong to call you my benefactor in the Celestial Realm.”
Mo Tian Jun was moved. Indeed, he had arranged intel, rare materials, even introduced Ban Xia as Ye Yu’s companion. His contributions were considerable. But he knew the art of words: praise first, then “but.” As expected, Ye Yu’s tone shifted.
“But when we were in the eastern Celestial Realm, you showed off your three heads and six arms, finished your display, and left me behind. That truly chilled me. Imagine if you were me: having survived, what’s the first thing you’d do?”

Ye Yu blinked. “Is that difficult?”
