Noelle immediately clasped her hands behind her back and stepped aside, her gaze soft. “Okay. Drive safe. Get some rest.”
Finnian nodded and walked away, his long strides eating up the distance.
Noelle stayed where she was, leaning against the doorframe, looking around the small lounge filled with so many beautiful memories, the affection in her eyes deepening.
The next morning, Brynlee threw a minor tantrum about going back to school after being away for so long. She only perked up when both Finnian and Kaia promised to drop her off together.
Finnian’s black Bentley pulled up to the curb. He stepped out first, walked around to open the other door, and lifted Brynlee out. Kaia followed closely behind.
Finnian was wearing a black overcoat, and Kaia was dressed similarly in a black trench. Standing together in the crisp morning air, they looked like an incredibly powerful, striking power couple, drawing admiring stares from the other parents.
Outside the gates, kids were trickling into the schoolyard.
As Finnian and Kaia walked up hand–in–hand with Brynlee, the Principal and her homeroom teacher rushed over to greet them.
Kaia took the opportunity to update them on Brynlee’s condition and a few specific guidelines.
Given Finnian’s status and his massive financial contributions to the school, Brynlee was guaranteed VIP treatment.
Finnian didn’t have to say a word. The Principal and teachers knew exactly how valuable the Sanders family was, treating them like absolute royalty.
Just then, a sleek black Maybach rolled up and parked nearby.
The door opened, and Simon Quinn stepped out, carrying Anna Quinn, whose hair was
in two little buns.

“Anna!” Brynlee, who had been a bit anxious, instantly lit up at the sight of her friend.
“Brynlee, you’re back!” Anna, a total sweetheart, flashed a huge grin. She wriggled out of her uncle’s arms, ran over, and grabbed Brynlee’s hand. The two of them started jumping up and down excitedly.
Simon walked over with a warm smile, his eyes immediately landing on Kaia. “Kaia, is she feeling better?”
Kaia remembered Simon texting her out of concern the day Brynlee was rushed to the hospital.

She offered a genuine smile. “She’s all better. Cleared to go back to school.”
Simon looked visibly relieved. “That’s wonderful news.”
He then turned to Finnian, offering a polite but distant nod. “Mr. Sanders.”
Finnian’s demeanor had turned frigid the second Simon appeared. He offered a tight, forced smile. “Mr. Quinn. Morning.”

After giving Simon the absolute bare minimum of an acknowledgment, Finnian’s gaze darted between him and Kaia, his jaw clenching visibly.
The kids said their goodbyes and headed into the building with their teacher.
Finnian looked away from his daughter and turned to Kaia. “Let’s go. I’ll drop you at the office.”
Kaia ignored him and turned to Simon. “I’ll see you later.”
Simon studied her face for a moment. “You look like you lost weight while Brynlee was sick. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself, too.”
Kaia paused, touching her cheek with a small laugh. “I will. Bye.”
Finnian heard the incredibly natural, easy affection in Simon’s voice. His lips pressed into a thin, angry line.
He opened the car door for Kaia. As she slid in, Finnian cast a dark look over his shoulder before getting in and slamming the door.
The black Bentley merged smoothly into the morning traffic.
Simon stood on the sidewalk, watching the car disappear. His smile slowly faded, and with a quiet sigh, he got back into his own car.
Inside the Bentley, Kaia pulled out her phone to start clearing emails. Finnian stared out the window at the passing scenery before suddenly breaking the silence. “Mr. Quinn seems very concerned about you.”
Kaia kept her eyes glued to her screen, her tone completely flat. “We’re friends. Isn’t it normal for friends to check in on each other?”
Finnian turned to look at her indifferent profile. He let out a dry, mirthless laugh and didn’t press the issue.
The weather had been gloomy for days, and by noon, a light drizzle had started.
Noelle’s admirers were still aggressively sending gifts to the office. Her assistant was running interference non–stop, having become quite a pro at it by now.
Around lunch, Noelle got a call from Elaine saying she

Chapter 160
Noelle had been stuck in back–to–back meetings all morning and had a splitting headache. She rubbed her temples and headed out to meet her.
Inside the upscale restaurant, Elaine was seated, looking impeccably dressed but visibly
anxious.
As Noelle walked in, she immediately picked up on the heavy, distracted vibe.
“Mom, haven’t you ordered yet?” Noelle asked warmly, setting her bag down and taking the seat next to Elaine.
Elaine was too stressed to care. “You order for us.”
Noelle called the waiter over, selected a few of Elaine’s favorites, and handed the menu back. She leaned in, asking with genuine concern, “Mom, what’s wrong? You seem really upset.”
Elaine gripped her water glass tightly, looking furious. “There’s something that’s been driving me absolutely crazy, and you’re the only one I can vent to about it.”
