Chapter 195

The colleague, his face already flushed, downed his glass in one gulp.

Silas watched Kaia and leaned in slightly. “Take it easy. You’re not exactly a heavyweight.”

Kaia offered a faint smile. “It’s fine. As long as everyone is having a good time.”

Miles, sitting on her other side, chimed in as well. “You’ve already had three glasses. You really shouldn’t drink any more.”

Kaia froze for a moment, then laughed softly and set her glass down.

With two powerful men stepping in to protect her, anyone else who had considered coming over for a toast quickly reconsidered. Pushing Dr. Chavez to drink now would clearly piss off both the CEO and the Hospital Director. They wisely backed off.

After dinner, the group headed took a shower, sat down at her laptop, and meticulously reviewed the notes from the afternoon’s meeting. She highlighted the areas she felt needed adjustment

Meanwhile, Silas had just stepped out of the shower. Wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist, he was aggressively towel-drying his hair when his phone buzzed. Thinking it might be an interesting late-night invitation, he picked it up with a smirk. When he saw what it was, his lips curled into an amused smile. A work email. At this hour.

What exactly went on in Kaia’s head?

The grueling three-day business trip finally came to an end. Both teams booked the same flight back to the States.

Kaia pushed her suitcase through the automatic sliding doors at arrivals. Behind her, Silas and Miles were still deep in conversation about work, looking entirely focused.

Once outside, Kaia eagerly scanned the crowd waiting at the terminal.

the air.

Miles smiled and nodded. “Sure. Looking forward to your call.”

“Make sure you invite me too. I love a good party,” Silas added, not willing to be left out.

Kaia kissed her daughter’s cheek again, then turned back to the two men. “Mr. Sanders, Miles, I’m going to head home with him. I’ll see you both at the meeting tomorrow.”

Miles nodded. Reaching into his carry-on bag, he pulled out a small, beautifully packaged astronomy puzzle and handed it to Brynlee. “Brynlee, when you finish this puzzle, the stars actually glow. Something fun for you to play with at home.”

Brynlee’s eyes lit up instantly. She took it with a huge smile. “Thank you, Uncle Miles! This looks so cool!”

Not to be outdone, Silas magically produced a wrapped box of his own. “This is a pocket telescope. Do you like it, Brynlee?”

“Can I see the moon and the stars with it?” Brynlee asked, practically vibrating with excitement.

Silas laughed. “Try it when you get home. I heard you can even see Saturn’s rings with it, but you’ll have to tell me if that’s true.”

“Whoa, that’s awesome! I’m going to look tonight!” Brynlee’s eyes were practically sparkling.

Finnian hadn’t expected both of these men to secretly buy gifts for his daughter. His dark eyes darted involuntarily toward Kaia.

Kaia was equally surprised by the gesture. She quickly expressed her gratitude. “Thank you both so much for the gifts. Let me treat you to dinner soon to say thank you.”

“Mommy, I want to come too!” Brynlee cheered.

“Of course you can come,” Kaia laughed.

Miles and Silas exchanged a brief look before replying, “Sounds great. We’ll hold you to that.”

With that, the two men led their respective teams away.

Finnian pushed Kaia’s suitcase, watching his wife and daughter walk slightly ahead of him. He casually broke the silence. “So, was the expo highly productive?”

Kaia nodded. “It was fine.”

Finnian followed up with another remark. “It looked like your group got along very well. Great team spirit.”

Kaia gave him a weird look over her shoulder. Was this him being caring? In her memory, Finnian rarely said things like this, and he certainly never cared about the dynamics of her business trips.

“Teamwork is the key to success,” Kaia replied flatly.

Finnian seemed to take the hint that he was being shut down and didn’t push it any further.

A few days later, Aethelstan Biopharma was gearing up for their high-stakes negotiation with Cytogene AG.

Noelle’s fingertips lightly traced the thick stack of draft agreements.

Her team had already revised this document four times, yet Noelle couldn’t shake her underlying anxiety.

Because of her previous media interviews, she had already made this potential partnership highly public. The entire industry was watching. A single mistake now could lead to catastrophic losses down the line.

Wendy, her assistant, walked in with a reminder. “Ms. Lawrence, the tickets are booked. Our flight leaves tonight at eight.”

Noelle looked up, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear and smoothing out her navy blue suit. “Good. Tell the team to get ready to head out.”

Dr. Gordon Hayes was also joining them on this trip. He took a company car to Noelle’s gated community, registered with security, and took the
