Chapter 199

Finnian, she called out softly. “Thank you so much for this.”

Finnan stopped and turned to look at her. The cold, ruthless edge he had worn at the negotiation table had softened “Noelle, Aethelstan is a core pillar of The Sanders Conglomerate. It’s also going to be your empire to run. I couldn’t let it fail.”

He said it casually, like a boss mentoring a subordinate, or an older brother looking out for his sister. Noelle’s heart fluttered. A second later, she beamed up at him. “I know. Thank you.”

The next day, Cytogene hosted a celebratory dinner at a historic, century-old restaurant.

With its rich wood paneling and classical oil paintings, the atmosphere was completely relaxed. With the stress of the deal finally behind them, the representatives from both teams mingled freely, laughing and chatting.

Noelle had dressed up for the occasion, wearing an elegant, light purple evening gown that highlighted her radiant skin and sophisticated aura.

Holding a glass of champagne, she effortlessly switched between English and German as she chatted with Dr. Shirley, radiating absolute confidence.

Yet, amidst the laughter and small talk, her eyes kept drifting toward Finnian.

Finnian was currently standing out on the terrace, a drink in his hand, talking on his phone. The fond, gentle smile on his face made it obvious-he was talking to Brynlee.

Noelle looked away, a sour knot tightening in her stomach.

Just then, Cytogene’s CTO walked over, praising her in slightly broken Mandarin. “Ms. Lawrence, you look absolutely stunning tonight.”

Noelle smiled and clinked glasses with him, replying smoothly, “Victory makes everyone look a little better, doesn’t it?”

“Very true,” he laughed. “But I have to say, you and Mr. Sanders make a phenomenal team.”

“Oh? How so?” Noelle asked, feigning deep curiosity.

The man smiled warmly, his tone sincere. “He builds the strategic framework, and you command the technical execution. It’s the perfect combination, wouldn’t you say?”

The word perfect sent a thrill through Noelle’s chest. She couldn’t help but glance out at the terrace

again.

Once everyone had finished their rounds of toasts, Noelle quietly made her way over to Finnian.

She casually leaned her arm against the railing, looking up at him with a playful smile. “Aren’t you worried Kaia will be jealous that you flew all the way out here to help me?”

Finnian paused, then gave a faint smile. “She won’t be.”

Noelle laughed softly. “I hope not. Kaia was never the petty type back in the day.”

Chapter 199

Finnian immediately changed the subject. “You did incredible work today, Noelle. You’re the reason this deal happened”

Noelle blinked in surprise. He was the one who had saved the negotiation, yet he was handing all the credit to her. Her eyes immediately grew hot with emotion. She looked down, nervously tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “What are you talking about? I didn’t do anything. If it weren’t for you…”

“No,” Finnian interrupted firmly. “Your persistence proved Aethelstan’s commitment to Cytogene. Your technical expertise kept them at the table. I was just the icing on the cake.”

With that, Finnian turned and walked over to continue his conversation with Dr. Shirley.

Noelle stood there, rooted to the spot, the intoxicating thrill of victory surging through her.

She tilted her head back and drained her champagne in one gulp, trying to extinguish the dangerous little fire that had just ignited in her heart.

Back at Veridian Future, Kaia was walking out of the lab. Passing the breakroom, she heard a group of women gossiping inside.

She stopped dead in her tracks. Ever since Finnian had flown to Switzerland two days ago, rumors had been running rampant.

Their hushed voices drifted through the cracked door.

“There’s no way Mr. Sanders flew out there just for a business deal. I bet it was a romantic getaway.”

“Seriously? That’s so humiliating for Dr. Chavez.”

“Think about it. Ms. Lawrence took half of Aethelstan’s top engineers with her. How bad could the technical negotiations have been? Why would the CEO personally need to fly out?”

“Ugh, rich people drama. Who knows? But honestly, Ms. Lawrence is gorgeous, and they were childhood sweethearts…”

“I feel so bad for Dr. Chavez!”

Kaia stood frozen in the hallway. A few seconds later, she took a steady breath and strode back to

her office.

Humiliating?

She had brought this on herself.

Sitting at her desk, the computer screen glowing in front of her, Kaia felt completely incapable of focusing.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed with a text from Silas. It was simply labeled Video #6.

Her fingers were ice cold as she tapped the file.

The video took a second to buffer before the screen lit up. The setting was a beautifully decorated banquet hall, filled with balloons and streamers. Teenagers were dressed in formal wear.

It looked like a high school prom-likely Noelle’s.

Noelle was wearing a dreamy white dress, her hair pinned up like a princess, her face young and
