Chapter 215
Chapter 215
Leo stood up, his body rigid. Watching Finnian turn away-looking like a man who had just taken a physical blow-a deep sense of unease began to spread in Leo’s chest.
That afternoon, Kaia had originally planned to pick Brynlee up from school. However, she received a call from her parents, saying they were going to get her instead. They wanted Brynlee to sleep over at their place for the night, since it was the weekend and there was no school the next day.
Kaia happily agreed to let them take her. Now already on the road, she checked the time and dialed a number on her phone.
“Mr. Finch, I’d like to come in and talk.”
Quinn Finch replied promptly, “Of course, Dr. Chavez. I’m in my office. I’ll be waiting for you.”
Kaia drove over and knocked lightly on Quinn’s office door.
Quinn, having already prepared the necessary files, immediately stood up to let her in. “Dr. Chavez, please come in.”
Kaia took a seat across from his desk. Quinn handed her a thick stack of papers. “This is the draft of the divorce agreement based on the information you provided last time. I’ve highlighted a few key points. Have a look.”
Kaia took the document and carefully flipped through it, page by page.
She scrutinized everything-the division of assets, child custody, and the confidentiality clauses-reading with absolute focus.
Her goal was to maximize the protection of her and her daughter’s rights without unnecessarily escalating the conflict.
“The biggest hurdle right now is the division of assets,” Quinn explained. “Finnian’s primary wealth stems from the family equity he inherited before your marriage, which will be extremely difficult to lay claim to. Then there are his personal investments, real estate, and the appreciation of his shares during your marriage. We’ll likely need to bring in a forensic accountant to fully evaluate all of that.” “As for custody, I strongly advise filing for sole physical custody, granting Finnian visitation rights and requiring him to pay child support. Of course, Mr. Sanders is likely to fight back on that, so joint custody could be an alternative. But based on the cases I’ve handled, if the relationship between the parents is completely fractured, joint custody almost always leads to massive conflicts down the line.”
“I want sole custody,” Kaia stated without a second’s hesitation.
She continued flipping to the back of the packet. The confidentiality clauses were meticulously drafted: neither party was allowed to publicly defame the other, leak details of the divorce to the press, or speak ill of the other parent in front of their child.
“Regarding the infidelity,” Quinn noted. “The evidence you’ve provided can certainly be used to argue irreconcilable differences. But in practice, proving emotional infidelity is incredibly ambiguous and tough to hold up in court-unless you can secure something far more concrete.”

Kaia frowned. If only she hadn’t been so paralyzed by shock that day on the third floor. She had completely forgotten to record their conversation. An audio recording of that confession would have been the ultimate proof.
Now, the exact nature of Finnian and Noelle’s relationship was even harder to pin down. They could hide behind the guise of being “family” to justify being alone together in public. Proving anything untoward was nearly impossible-unless she managed to catch them kissing or walked in on them in bed…
A sharp ache instantly pierced the space between Kaia’s brows, and she reached up to massage her temples.
“Let’s stick with this draft for now,” Kaia said thoughtfully. She tapped her finger on the child support section. “I don’t want a fixed dollar amount. It needs to be calculated as a percentage of Finnian’s total income, subject to an annual review.”
“Well…” Quinn hesitated. “Standard practice is to agree on a fixed sum, perhaps with provisions for inflation.”
“His net worth is growing exponentially every single day,” Kaia replied evenly. “Brynlee is entitled to her fair share. If his financial situation drastically changes, the payments should adjust accordingly.”
Quinn nodded. “We can certainly write that in. It’s a fair demand. Take another look-is there anything else you’d like to add?”
Kaia looked down in thought for a moment. “Under the visitation section, add a stipulation. If Finnian intends to bring Brynlee around Noelle, he must notify me in advance. I won’t block it, but I demand the right to know.”
“A clause like that could provoke a lot of unnecessary pushback,” Quinn warned gently.
“Add it. I need to know absolutely everything when it comes to my daughter.” Kaia had already seen right through Noelle’s two-faced facade. She wasn’t about to risk that woman manipulating or negatively influencing Brynlee.
“Understood. Once I’ve made the revisions, I’ll have the papers served directly to Mr. Sanders for his review,” Quinn said.
Kaia shook her head. “No, give them to me. I’ll hand them to him myself. There are some things that still need to be settled face-to-face.”
Quinn looked at the resolute, unwavering woman sitting across from him and nodded. “Very well. But
fast.” I should warn you, if he refuses to agree to these terms, things are going to get very ugly, very Kaia stood up and looked out the window, her voice cool and detached. “I’d rather face an ugly truth than live a beautiful lie.”
“Alright. I should have the revised draft ready for you by tomorrow morning.”
Kaia nodded. “Thank you for everything, Mr. Finch.”
“It’s what you pay me for.”
As Kaia rode the elevator down to the lobby, it felt as though a massive chunk of her heart had been carved out, leaving behind a hollow, biting cold.

Chapter 215
Divorce was everywhere. So many couples tore each other to shreds on the battlefield of separation, completely losing their humanity in the process.
Kaia closed her eyes. She refused to become a hysterical, vindictive ex-wife. She was choosing not to scream, not to cry, not to slander, and not to seek revenge. All she wanted was to draw a line in the sand-to shut Finnian out and lock him away with his obsession for Noelle.
The sky was growing dark by the time Kaia pulled up to the Chavez family home, making it just in time for dinner.
Brynlee was sitting in the front courtyard, giggling as she helped her grandpa tease the pet birds in their cages. The garden was lush with spring blooms. In the fading twilight, everything felt incredibly peaceful and serene.
“Mommy!” Catching sight of Kaia walking through the gate, Brynlee squealed and ran over. “You have perfect timing! We’re just about to eat dinner!”
