Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 373

Chapter 373

Perhaps sensing his stare, Kaia looked up.

Finnian immediately shut his eyes, feigning sleep, but a spike of embarrassment hit him. He felt like a schoolboy caught staring.

It was an entirely foreign emotion for a mari like him.

Throughout this trip, Kaia seemed different. The quiet, passive woman was gone. Now she argued, she fought back, she had a fire in her.

For years, she had been as predictable and flavorless as tap water. Necessary, but boring. Now, she was vibrant. It gave Finnian a completely different taste of who she was.

So, she had been faking it for seven years. Playing the perfect, compliant wife who never complained. He had actually believed that was her true

nature.

She must have been exhausted. Was she finally done pretending?

Finnian opened his eyes a fraction, studying the woman by the window. He rolled the thought around in his mind until he finally landed on the right word: novelty.

Yes, novelty. A Kaia who fought, yelled, and harbored grudges was infinitely more captivating.

When the plane touched down, Kaia stared out the window as the familiar skyline came into view.

School enrollment for Brynlee was the day after tomorrow. Their brief escape from reality was officially over.

Brynlee woke up and happily played games on her iPad. Finnian sat across from Kaia, barely speaking but unable to stop his gaze from drifting toward her.

Kaia ignored him effortlessly.

The moment the cabiti door oponed, Dexter was waiting on the tarmac. Mr Sanders, the car is ready.”

Finnian nodded. “Come on,” he said to Kaia. “I take you back to your apartment.”

Before Kaia could decline, a sleek black Maybach pulled up right next to them.

The door opened, and Silas Sanders stepped out.

He was holding a beautiful bouquet of white daisies and eucalyptus-fresh, elegant, and understated.

Finnian’s brow furrowed the second he saw the younger man.

“Finnian, Kaia, Brynlee!” Silas offered a bright, easy smile as he walked

over.

“Dr. Chavez, you’re finally back.” Silas looked thrilled as he handed her the flowers. “Just picked up on the way.”

Kaia took the bouquet, a genuine smile touching her lips. “You didn’t have to bring flowers.”

Silas chuckled. “Everyone needs a little fanfare when they land.”

Brynlee giggled, pointing at the bouquet. “Uncle Silas, you got the wrong ones! My mom likes roses.”

Silas froze, his eyes instinctively darting to gauge Finnian’s reaction.

If he had shown up with red roses today, things would have gotten ugly

fast.

Kaia intervened smoothly. “I love all flowers. It’s the thought that counts.”

Finnian stood rigidly to the side, his jaw tight.

“How exactly did you know what time we were landing?” he asked, his voice dangerously low.

Silas turned to him, looking thoroughly amused. “Kaia told me. We were discussing some project details right before she boarded.”

Dexter, standing nearby, couldn’t help but mutter, “Mr. Silas has been waiting out here for over an hour. He beat us here.”

Finnian’s expression shifted drastically. He shot a look at Kaia.

Then, he turned a warning glare on his cousin.

Silas met his eyes without flinching, his smile never fading.

“Kaia is the head of R&D for Veridian. I’m just here on official company business to pick up my lead researcher. You’re not mad, are you, Finnian?”

The perfectly professional excuse left Finnian with absolutely no grounds to object.

“I’m heading to the office with Silas,” Kaia announced. “Take Brynlee home so she can rest.”

“To the office? Now?” Finnian demanded. “You literally just got off a plane. What could possibly be that urgent…”
