Chapter 379
Finnian froze, the world entirely dropping out from beneath him. Dexter and Mrs. Wagner stood paralyzed in shock.
“You… you must be mistaken,” Finnian stammered, staring wildly at the doctor. “That’s impossible. How could she be pregnant? Did you mix up the charts?”
Dr. Evans, completely unaware of the billionaire’s identity, remained professional. “There is no mistake, sir. We ran blood work and performed an ultrasound. She is definitively pregnant. As for the fainting spell, my preliminary diagnosis is exhaustion and malnutrition, coupled with emotional distress, leading to a sudden drop in blood sugar.”
“No. That’s impossible.” Finnian stood rooted to the spot, feeling as though he’d been struck by lightning.
Noelle was pregnant?
Whose… whose child was it?
Finnian’s jaw clenched so hard his teeth ached. He didn’t want to follow that train of thought. He flashed back to the night before-her vomiting, her sudden weight loss, the bone-deep fatigue. Was it all because she was carrying a child?
Behind him, Mrs. Wagner and Dexter exchanged terrified, knowing looks. It was the exact reaction of two people who had expected this outcome, but realized the timing was disastrously wrong.
Finnian heard them shift. He spun around, catching their expressions. His brow furiously furrowed. “Don’t look at me like that. The baby isn’t mine.”
Both of them gaped at him, thoroughly bewildered.
If it wasn’t his… then whose was it?
Inside the room, Noelle’s eyes fluttered open to a blindingly white ceiling.

The sharp stench of antiseptic hit her. In a fraction of a second, her blood Tan cold. She bolted upright, her hands flying to her flat stomach. “My
babies..”
“Whose babies?”
Finnian’s voice sliced through the room, cold and utterly merciless.
Noelle snapped her head toward him, her heart slamming violently against her ribs.
“I… Finnian, I just had a nightmare. I dreamt I had a baby…”
“The doctor told me,” Finnian interrupted, his voice terrifyingly calm. “You’re pregnant.”
Noelle’s brain short-circuited. The secret was out. The lie was dead.
She squeezed her eyes shut, a tear slipping down her cheek. Fine. There was no running from this now.
“Who is the father?” Finnian demanded, stepping closer. “Answer me.”
Noelle opened her eyes. They were shining with tears as a bitter, self-deprecating smile touched her lips. “Who do you hope it is?”
Finnian stared at her, blindsided by the question. Then, white-hot fury ignited in his chest. “What bastard took advantage of you?!”
Noelle shook her head slowly, collapsing back against the pillows. “No one took advantage of me, Finnian. The babies are Rafael’s.”
“What?!” Finnian was reeling, the air knocked from his lungs. “My brother’s?”
Noelle nodded. “Yes. We made this decision together, three years ago. We froze embryos. Recently, the silence in my apartment became too much… I wanted a piece of him back. So, I went through with the transfer.”
Finnian stood in stunned silence as the magnitude of her words crashed

over him. Even then, an ugly seod of doubt remained. “Are you absolutely Certain they belong to my brother? You’re not covering for someone?”
Noelle let out a weak, broken laugh. “With you protecting me, who would dare touch me? Finnian, I’m so sorry. I know this seems reckless, but I was so incredibly lonely. I needed a reason to live. These babies… they belong to the Sanders family.”
Finnian’s expression hardened into a storm of anger. “If you and my brother planned this three years ago, then what the hell was that stunt you pulled on the third floor? Why did you corner me and demand that I give you a child?!”
