Chapter 452
“That’s for you to figure out,” Kaia said coldly. “I can’t make that decision for you. If Sophia wants to divorce you, covering it up won’t do you any good.”
Kaia had bailed her brother out more times than she could count, but this time, she refused to enable him. She would lend him money for a new place to live, but she absolutely would not pay off this
massive debt.
“Kaia, please. Help me out, just this once. I can’t sell the house. Sophia will actually leave me.”
Kaia didn’t want to hear another word. She ended the call. Some lessons had to be learned the hard
way.
The next morning, Kaia received a call from Finnian Sanders. He said he had something urgent to discuss and was waiting for her at The Daily Grind Cafe, right across the street from Veridian Future.
Kaia knew the place well. She often ordered pastries from there for her team. Unsure of what Finniar
wanted, she decided to hear him out.
As she reached for the cafe door, she caught movement in her peripheral vision. Three men were marching aggressively toward her. Before she could react, one of them called out, “Ms. Chavez, right?”
Kaia turned. Three rough–looking men blocked her path. The leader, a thick–necked man with a menacing smirk, shrugged his shoulders. “Hello, Ms. Chavez. You probably don’t know us, but you’ll definitely recognize this.”
He pulled a piece of paper from his jacket and unfolded it. It was an IOU, bearing Leo’s signature.
Kaia’s expression darkened.
“Your brother owes us ten million dollars,” the leader said, his smile failing to reach his cold eyes.
“He claims he’s broke. So, we had no choice but to come to you. A woman of your status can easily spare some pocket change.”
Kaia glared at him, her voice icy. “If he owes you money, take it up with him. What does this have to do with me?”
The man chuckled, though the sound was devoid of humor. “Now, Ms. Chavez, don’t be like that. You’re his biological sister, worth billions, sitting pretty on the wealth lists. This is a drop in the bucket for you. We don’t want any trouble, and we certainly don’t want to drag your parents into this Just pay the debt, and we’ll disappear. Let’s keep this civil.”
Kaia stared him down. “I’ll say it one more time. Find him for the money. I am not paying his debts.
Realizing she wasn’t going to be easily intimidated, the man’s smile vanished. He folded the IOU and stuffed it back into his pocket. “Did I stutter, Ms. Chavez? Or do you really just not care if your brother lives or dies?”
“This is a civilized society,” Kaia said sharply. “If you try anything, I’m calling the cops.
“Debts have to be paid. Even the cops will tell you that. If we end up in court, the interest will keep racking up. In two years, it’ll be a hell of a lot more than ten million.”

Chapter 452
As he spoke, the man lunged forward, attempting to grab Kaia’s wrist to prove his point.
Kaia instinctively dodged, but she wasn’t fast enough. Just as his fingers brushed her sleeve, two dark figures blurred past her. With brutal efficiency, they shoved the thug back.
Caught off guard, the leader stumbled backward and slammed into a row of rental bikes, crashing to the pavement in a tangled mess of metal.
Kaia glanced back. Two massive bodyguards in sharp suits stood between her and the thugs. They
were Finnian’s men.
The three debt collectors scrambled up, their faces pale with rage. “Who the hell are you? Mind your
own business!”
The bodyguards remained silent, standing like immovable statues.
Just then, a figure stepped out of the cafe.
Finnian was wearing a dark gray coat, his phone casually in hand. He swept a cold, indifferent gaze over the three men, looking at them as if they were nothing more than trash on the sidewalk.
