“I do not,” Julian insisted defensively,

Finnian carried Brynlee around the perimeter. The little girl’s memory was frighteningly sharp, the four women who had been gossiping in the bathroom were already quietly filed into Finniar’s mental blacklist,

“Dad, go comfort Mom. She looked really sad,” Brynlee said, framing her father’s handsome face with her tiny hands. “When people say bad things about your wife, it means they’re saying you’re a bad person too.”

Finnian was entirely defenseless against this little genius. Honestly, he had noticed a long time ago that Brynlee’s 10 was much higher than average kids. She was observant and precocious.

Now, as she got older, the things she understood and the logic she applied only grew more complex. Her sense of right and wrong was becoming razor–sharp.

“I know, Dad’s going to go find Mom and have a good talk with her right now.” Finnian carried Brynlee over to Elaine. “Mom, there are too many people here. Don’t let Brynlee run off again.”

Elaine was chatting with some society wives. Seeing her son drop off her granddaughter, she smiled and patted the seat next to her. “Brynlee, stay with Grandma. Your two little friends will be over here in

a minute,”

“Okay!” Brynlee nodded, then pushed Finnian with her little hands. “Go find Mom!”

Finnian’s dark eyes flickered before he turned and walked away.

At that moment, Kaia was standing next to Silas Sanders, discussing business with several potential partners, Silas wasn’t as strong on the technical side, but with Kaia backing him up, he was in his element, easily regaining the upper hand in the negotiation.

Whenever Kaia effortlessly caught a curveball question and provided a flawless, technically airtight answer, Silas’s gaze would deepen as he looked at her.

Kaia had already shoved the vicious bathroom gossip to the back of her mind. To her, it was just a sharpening stone for her resolve. It meant nothing, and it wasn’t worth her energy.

“Kala…”

Suddenly, a deep male voice cut through the conversation.

Kala stopped mid–sentence and turned.

Finnian stood there.

The business partners immediately stepped forward to greet him. Finnian offered a polite nod, but his eyes locked onto Kaia’s face. “Come here. We need to talk.”

Seeing the partners respectfully stepping back, Kaia turned to Silas. “Keep going over the details with them. I’ll be right back.”

“Take your time.” Silas’s young, handsome face beamed with absolute confidence.

Chapter 66

Finnian turned and walked toward the quieter terrace.

Kaia followed him. The space between the married couple looked like a gaping canyon, separated by a good six feet.

Naturally, the onlookers couldn’t help but enjoy the show.

Finnian stopped next to a potted orchid. Kaia walked up and stopped in front of him.

“What is it?”

For a moment, Finnian genuinely didn’t know where to start. Hearing a phrase like ‘sleeping with his dead brother’s wife come out of his precious daughter’s mouth was something Finnian–who cared deeply about his child’s mental well–being–simply couldn’t stomach.

“If there’s nothing, I’m going back to work.” Kaia gave him exactly three seconds.

He seemed visibly irritated, his expression hardening inch by inch.

Kaia turned to leave, but a firm, searing grip caught her wrist, stopping her in her tracks.
