No matter how he looked at it, the drawing resembled a family of three.
In that split second, Jonathan felt uncomfortable, especially when he recalled that the moment Anneliese walked in earlier, the first person she saw and greeted was Steven.
Ellie was still a child, so it was normal that she would misunderstand things. However, he didn't know what Steven was doing by showing this kind of drawing to Anneliese. Moreover, he knew that Steven was not someone easy to approach, nor did he talk much. Yet, he was now chatting with Anneliese so warmly.
"That's cute." Jonathan nodded. Then, he leaned in and whispered in Anneliese's ear, "Say, how about we have a baby too? Preferably, a little girl as adorable as Ellie."
Though he kept his voice low, Steven would definitely still hear him from such a close distance.
Anneliese hadn't expected him to suddenly bring up this subject. Her ears reddened, and she shot him a glare.
Jonathan pretended not to understand her warning as he leaned closer again and murmured, "Don't be shy. Maybe they really do have some secret to having daughters."
Anneliese was at a loss for words.
She couldn't hold back as she reached down and pinched his thigh.
On the other hand, Steven could see through Jonathan's little ploy. After all, the jealousy and possessiveness rolling off him were practically tangible. He was nothing like the Jonathan he used to know.
No wonder he got married so quickly, thought Steven.
Steven was genuinely surprised. He hadn't expected Jonathan to be the one who cared more in this relationship, which was interesting.
Anneliese didn't dare let Jonathan keep talking nonsense, so she hurriedly changed the subject.
"By the way, where's Zane? I haven't seen him at all."
She was still thinking about Jessica's situation. She had assumed Jessica dragged Zane out to talk, but so much time had passed, and neither had returned.
Jonathan had just asked Joel earlier, so he explained, "He got a call and stepped out, saying that he had something to take care of. They haven't seen Jessica either."
Could it be that Jessica had called Zane out?
Thinking about it, Anneliese took out her phone and sent Jessica a couple of messages, but received no reply.
Maybe they were in the middle of talking.
