She felt at ease being doted on by him.
This year's National Low-Altitude Logistics Algorithm Challenge was set up as a solo contest. It was co-hosted by the government, top universities, research institutes, and the two largest logistics companies in Lunasia. The venue was none other than Oceaton University.
Jonathan drove Anneliese to the campus. From a distance, she could already see the crowds of cars and people bustling at the gate.
There were even several media crews hauling their equipment. Anneliese glanced over at Jonathan behind the wheel.
"I bet they won't let outside vehicles in. You should park here. I'll walk in from here…"
Jonathan just tapped the wheel, kept his eyes on his watch, and didn't even look over.
"We have time. What kind of husband ditches his wife before she gets to the door?"
Before Anneliese could argue, their car had already joined the long line at the gate. There was no turning back, even if she wanted to.
So she didn't press the issue. Fortunately, the line was moving quickly.
The university clearly had everything organized. The security guards were smoothly directing traffic and letting cars in efficiently.
Soon it was their turn. Anneliese had worried they wouldn't get in, but when their car reached the front, Jonathan didn't even roll down the window. They were waved through immediately. The security staff outside even hurried the cars in front along for them.
Jonathan's Bentley cruised right onto campus. Anneliese stared, a little shocked.
"Why didn't we have to register or show any kind of pass?"
She looked over at Jonathan, confusion clear on her face.
Jonathan's lips curved into a helpless smile. He glanced at her. "Baby, you graduated from Oceaton University. Did you ever bother to learn the names of the various foundations and buildings on campus?"
"Huh?" Anneliese blinked.
Jonathan sighed. "The Fullbuster Group donates to Oceaton University every year. They used our money to establish two scholarships and a medical research fund. The College of Aerospace's main building is called Derek Fullbuster Hall—that's named after my grandfather.
"AeroAir also donated 50 million this year for a new research building. The university even gave me an honorary doctorate. Getting through the gate isn't exactly a problem."
He turned his head, giving Anneliese a slow look. "Honey, what did you even do when you were a student here?"
Anneliese immediately felt a wave of guilt. She wanted to slap herself.
So it wasn't really my fault for not knowing… right?
"Sigh…"
Jonathan gave a deep, heartbroken sigh, and Anneliese couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed his suit jacket with both hands and gave it a little shake.
"Honey, this is all my fault! I promise I'll go home and study your whole life story and all your awards, memorize everything by heart… Ouch!"
Before she could finish, he flicked her on the forehead. She clutched her head and gave him a pitiful look.
Jonathan finally parked the car and looked at her. "No need to rack your brains over it. You can just make it up to me in bed..."
Anneliese rolled her eyes at him.
"I could do that, but you're not allowed to guilt-trip me about this ever again!"
Jonathan played dumb. "Did I say anything? I don't remember a thing."
"Fine, it's all my guilty conscience, okay?"
She shot him another playful look, then jumped out of the car and hurried away.
