“I’m not apologizing. I’m not saying sorry for something I didn’t do.”
Albert let out a sharp laugh, clearly annoyed. “Alright, if you’re gonna act tough, just don’t come crying to me later.”
Dorothea watched them go. Next to her, the duty manager barely dared to breathe.
“Dorothea, do you think this will be a problem? That guy looked like the CEO of The Clark Group...”
Dorothea just shook her head, calm as ever. “It’ll be fine. They’re just trying to use the hotel to pressure me. Sorry you all have to deal with this.”
The duty manager shook his head quickly. “No, Dorothea, don’t say that. If we hadn’t left any gaps, no one could’ve found anything to use against us.”
“Manager! A guest said she recorded something on the day it all happened!”
Dorothea and the manager both perked up immediately. “Come on, let’s go see!”
...
Albert didn’t waste any time getting his revenge.
Suddenly, a bunch of gossip accounts were twisting Carola’s thank-you speech from the show, and before long, they traced everything back to The Gresham.
All eyes were on Dorothea at The Gresham, since Walton hadn’t shown up at all.
A solo photo Dorothea had once posted from a cruise got dragged onto the trending page, and the comments were brutal.
Some people look sweet, but their hearts are pure evil. I’m never staying in that terrible hotel again.
Boycott The Gresham. Hope they go bankrupt.
Someone report them to the tax office. Let’s get The Gresham’s finances investigated. Hotels like this shouldn’t get away with it.
Carola just posted on Twitter!
Carola was always sharing her life on social media, and after years with the orchestra, she’d built up hundreds of thousands of followers.
Today, she posted again: I believe the sun will shine again, and the truth will come out. Hugs to myself. Don’t be sad.
Fans in the comments were heartbroken.
The picture she posted showed Carola leaning on a windowsill, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
Why are people picking on her? Is it just because she’s easy to bully?
Was he really that hard to trust?
His assistant could feel the chill in the air. “Mr. Stephens, Layton wants to meet with you.”
“I’m not seeing him,” Latham said, voice icy. “Tell him this for me. When he’s finally taught Carola some manners, then he can talk to me.”
Layton, clutching his phone, was clearly shocked.
Since nine that morning, their stock price had been falling, and it was still dropping.
Layton had someone look into it, and of course, it was Latham stirring things up again.
But this time, he had no idea what had set him off.
He only realized when Latham’s assistant passed on the message. There was Dorothea, right at the top of the trending topics, being slammed by everyone online.
Layton’s heart dropped. He called Carola right away.
“Carola, you need to get those trending topics removed. Do it now!”
