When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 345

“Did you hear me?”

Walton’s face twisted in pain, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes. “I heard you, I heard you. I’ll get you the money by the end of the month, I promise!”

Once the men left, Walton glared after them, his stare full of hatred. By the end of the month? Where was he supposed to find that much cash?

“Dorothea, you started this. Don’t blame me for what comes next.”

When Latham heard from his guys that Walton had disappeared, he frowned, deep in thought.

“Add more security around the house. From now on, Dorothea needs four bodyguards with her whenever she leaves.”

“And make sure the cars get checked regularly, especially the trunks and brakes. I don’t want any surprises.”

Even after giving out these orders, he still felt uneasy.

“Babe, Walton’s on the run. I’m worried he might try something, so maybe we should stay in for a while.”

Dorothea already barely went out, especially now with the reality show filming. Home felt like the safest place for her.

The only thing on her calendar was Carmen’s wedding at the end of the month.

“Alright. After Carmen’s wedding, I probably won’t need to leave again.”

“Oh, but the production team scheduled something for tomorrow. Maybe we can have them come here and do it?”

Latham didn’t look thrilled. He wanted to tell her to just quit the show, but they were already halfway through filming. Besides, it was Carmen’s project.

“Not here. I own the villa next door, too. They can film over there.”

“She came in while you were out for tests. Dropped off the thermos and left.”

A mess of emotions rushed through Elise’s heart. So Dorothea still cared, even just a little, even if she couldn’t bring herself to come face to face.

The doctor, not knowing the full story between mother and daughter, just reminded Elise to rest.

Tears filled Elise’s eyes. “I’m sorry, Dorothea.”

Dorothea’s car was still parked outside the hospital. She really had wanted to see Elise, but by the time she got to the room, Elise was out for her checkup.

Dorothea smiled to herself. Maybe fate decided they didn’t need to meet today. That was fine.

From the driver’s seat, Aldin glanced back at her. “Ready to go home, Dorothea?”

“Yeah, let’s go.”
