From Level 5 to Level 7, he had gone through three different Corrupted–level bosses of the same rank.

“Now, only the final trial is left.”

Aiden looked ahead. His gaze stopped at the dark hall in the distance.

The advancement trials followed a certain pattern. Each stage had a fixed number of bosses, and all of them were single targets. The normal mode required killing one boss, the hard mode had two, and so on. That meant the Abyss Trial needed five bosses to be defeated.

It was clear that once he killed the boss in that hall, he would clear the trial. But the final boss always had a huge attribute boost.

The earlier bosses were all Corrupted–level. The Tyrant Bloom had already reached Lord–level stats. That meant the final boss would at least be at Lord level.

“Fighting a Lord–level boss one–on–one?”

For a moment, Aiden felt something strange deep down.

If he won, he would make history. If he failed, he would die and lose everything. He had never done something this crazy before.

In his past life, every step he took had revolved around Piper. He always played it safe. But now, walking alone through this dark path, he felt no fear at all. Instead, he felt a rush of thrill and excitement.

“Maybe this is the real me, not caring about anyone else. My parents passed away early. I thought I was afraid of being alone, but maybe that idea was wrong from the start. I should enjoy solitude and walk through danger. A man living in this world shouldn’t be trapped by love and emotions. From now on, I will live for myself.”

Maybe it was because no one was around. Maybe it was because his emotions had been buried for so long. Aiden suddenly started to laugh quietly.

He stood before the hall, spread his arms wide, and embraced the air.

He whispered, “Come on.”

Thunder rumbled in the dark forest as raindrops began to fall.

Aiden pushed away all his emotions. His eyes turned firm and wild. He reached out and pushed open the heavy door that might have been untouched for centuries.

Dim light slipped through the doorway, bringing a faint glow to the pitch–black hall.

‘Adventurer, you have fallen into the abyss.’

A voice came out of nowhere, light and calm, as if someone were whispering close to his ear.

Then came the system alerts, one after another.

‘Ding! You have entered an extremely dangerous zone. Leave immediately! Leave immediately!‘

The sound was sharp and piercing, like an alarm in a movie when someone broke into a military base. Aiden had never heard the system speak with such intensity. It almost sounded desperate.

It was as if it were afraid.

He didn’t know if the Doomsday system had any consciousness or life, but at that moment, from the constant warnings, he could sense pure fear.

It felt like a tiny boat being swallowed by giant waves. The endless despair came crashing down on him all at once.

Boom!

Two ghostly lights lit up ahead. At the end of the hall, the creature sitting on the throne suddenly opened its eyes.

In an instant, a shockwave spread through the air. The stone doors creaked under the heavy pressure as if they were about to break.
