When She Stops Being Dramatic novel Chapter 112

Chapter 112: Chapter 58: The Scorned Wife of the 50s (58)

Both his arms and one of his legs dangled at odd angles. He couldn’t use his right hand to soothe his aching left, nor could he use his left to support his aching right. His right leg swung loosely from the knee.

His heavy frame was tensed, his arms held rigid. He tried to balance on one leg, but waves of pain, first from one limb then another, were so intense that he passed out. He fell with a THUD, landing right on his injured side. The impact on his three broken limbs shocked him awake, only for the agony to make him pass out again.

Even Zhu Yun winced in sympathy for him.

When the group arrived at the "battlefield," they found Lin Jin at the door, staring into the room in utter disbelief. Old Mrs. Wang stood inside like a stone pillar, and at her feet was a puddle of steaming, acrid-smelling yellow liquid.

A large man lay on the floor, his arms and leg twisted into grotesque, unsettling positions.

Meanwhile, Zhu Yun was crouched in a corner, clutching her stomach with a pale face.

With her eyes squeezed shut, she whimpered in terror, "Don’t kill me... I didn’t see anything... I didn’t see you two kissing..."

"Even though this isn’t the first or second time, I really don’t know anything..."

She was fair-skinned and pretty. Even at six months pregnant, she had only gained a little weight, which, contrasted with her large belly, made her trembling figure seem all the more small, frail, and pitiable—like a little white rabbit facing a big bad wolf.

The onlookers had mixed reactions to her words, but they all rushed forward to help her up, asking after her with concern.

Mrs. Chu had opened her door at the sound of footsteps. Seeing Zhu Yun, she was a mixture of angry and heartbroken. "We’re going to the hospital. When we get back, we’ll settle this!"

Zhu Yun clung to her arm and gave it a faint squeeze, signaling that she was all right.

Despite this, she winced and stood up with a hiss of pain. "Oww... Mom, I don’t want to go to the hospital. Where’s Chu Shenyu?"

"I sent someone to get him," Mrs. Chu said nervously. "Of course we have to go to the hospital! We’ll get you thoroughly checked out. You can stay for a couple of days and recover."

Zhu Yun nodded listlessly and allowed the others to help her unsteadily down the stairs. As she passed Lin Jin, she saw a look of lingering anticipation and satisfaction deep in the other woman’s eyes.

But Zhu Yun still trembled. "Lin Jin, I really didn’t mean to walk in on you two. And I didn’t see you emerge with your clothes all disheveled that other time... D-don’t have your family come after me..."

She then turned back to scold Zhu Yun. "Don’t you know you’re pregnant? With a belly this big, can’t you be more careful? A blow to the abdomen... the pain for the mother is one thing, but the baby took a hit. Who knows if it will end up with a disability?"

"If the baby’s head was injured, what would you do then?"

As she spoke, she stepped aside to let a nurse administer an injection.

Zhu Yun grabbed the nurse’s hand. "Wait until my family gets here. I want my partner with me. I’m scared..."

"Heh." Doctor Zheng laughed, exasperated. "Have some decency, ma’am. I’ve been an OB-GYN for a long time, and I’ve never seen a pregnant woman so shameless as to ask for her husband to be with her."

"Giving birth is no different from taking a dump. Are you sure you want your husband in here for that?"

Zhu Yun still wouldn’t release the nurse’s hand. "Then... then wait until my family signs the papers. In any case, I’m not getting any shot right now!"
