"Exactly, exactly. You young people are so sharp," the warehouse supervisor remarked with a laugh. "Spinning off this benefits-related work will make things a lot easier for our department."
With everyone having stated their position, Mr. Chi and Gu Nianchi exchanged a glance, conveying a shared mix of exasperation—their daughter was too brilliant to keep under wraps—and immense pride.
The Director made the final call, and the matter was settled. He also let Chi Yun’er pick two assistants for herself.
Outside the office, Mr. Chi pulled her to a stop, pointing a finger at her. "You’re getting bolder and bolder, aren’t you? Causing such a huge stir without saying a word?"
"You haven’t even been on the job five days, have you?"
’Who would have thought cooling products could be managed like this? It’s practically getting something for nothing!’
Chi Yun’er giggled and caught his finger. "Dad, your daughter is this brilliant because I’m working my butt off to make you look good."
"I just made you look good in there, and you’re not going to praise me? Why are you criticizing me instead?"
Mr. Chi glared at her. "Why didn’t you discuss it with me? What if something had been off? You would have put in all that effort and gotten no credit for it."
"Was that criticism? I was just remarking that our little kitten has grown claws and can now catch mice."
Chi Yun’er giggled, looping her arm through his as they walked out. "Dad, how about you recommend two people for me? You know, the kind who will work hard but aren’t too rigid in their thinking."
"I’m here to do real work, and I don’t want to waste any extra energy on office politics. The last thing I need is to be breaking my back clearing the land, only for someone else to come along, reap the rewards, and then complain that I’m too slow!"
Mr. Chi ruffled her hair. "Don’t worry, I was already thinking about it on the way here. What about Zhao Jinming and Xu Chengfang?"
