Chi Yun’er repeated the same pitch four or five times that day, successfully procuring canned goods, honey, candies, and biscuits that would last through the summer for her work unit’s employees!
With their first battle won, the group returned in a jam-packed van. Just as they reached the entrance, Uncle Li shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Is Miss Chi around? Your boyfriend Little Jiang is here!"
Chi Yun’er was stunned. As the van screeched to a halt, her head bumped against the seat in front of her.
She had been overworking her brain lately and was a bit slow on the uptake. She rubbed her slightly aching forehead, utterly bewildered. ’Boyfriend? What boyfriend?’
But a moment later, her cheeks flushed. She cleared her throat and said:
"Could you two comrades please take the samples from the van into the warehouse? And grab a case of drinks to share with everyone in there. You’ve all worked hard these past few days."
She had already recorded all the samples in her logbook, noting which department each one was for. That could all be dealt with tomorrow around noon.
After giving her instructions, Chi Yun’er stepped out of the van under the knowing, teasing gazes of the others inside.
Jiang Yihua stood by the entrance, straight and tall as a young poplar, dressed in a white short-sleeved shirt and olive-green pants. The eyes of everyone coming and going were glued to him.
His posture alone made him stand out from the crowd, to say nothing of that handsome face, which looked as if it belonged to an immortal banished to the mortal realm!
Chi Yun’er jogged over, resisting the urge to throw herself at him. She looked up, her eyes sparkling, and asked, "Brother Hua, when did you get back? How many days can you stay?"
Seeing him up close, she could tell the fatigue from days of travel did nothing to diminish his good looks. If anything, it was like a filter that only enhanced his masculine charm!
She knew she was beautiful and had been proud since she was a child. At the same time, she had a special affinity for all beautiful people and things, a passion so deep she would become completely immersed, unable to pull herself away.
Her boyfriend was so exceptionally handsome that she was bursting with a joy she didn’t know how to handle...
Jiang Yihua’s burning gaze swept over her. With a soft chuckle, he took off her oversized glasses. "I got in a little after nine. I washed up, had a bite to eat, and came looking for you, but you were already out."
"I can stay for two or three days. The truck’s carrying a shipment from Inner Mongolia, and I have to hurry back."
Chi Yun’er pouted. She had been so busy she’d almost forgotten he existed, but now that he had appeared so suddenly, she was hit by a tidal wave of longing and sorrow at the thought of him leaving.
