Afterward, Chi Yun’er continued to take advantage of her prodigy status, working day and night to cram five to six years of coursework into just two. She even managed to earn excellent grades in every subject.
Moreover, she stayed by Professor Bai’s side, participating in the hospital’s planning, design, and construction from start to finish. She used this project for her thesis and successfully graduated from Imperial University!
The day after her graduation ceremony, Chi Yun’er went to attend the new hospital’s opening ceremony.
Kyoto General Hospital was massive, and with the new, rational layout, it seemed even more spacious, tidy, and tranquil.
The outpatient department was a semicircular, two-story building designed with enormous windows, allowing sunlight to pour in and make the space exceptionally bright.
On one side of the lobby were over a dozen registration and payment windows, while the other side featured pharmacy windows equipped with conveyor belts. An information desk stood in the center, and a row of wheelchairs, umbrellas, masks, and other essential items for public convenience lined the walls.
At the entrance, six volunteer receptionists stood on each side, offering help to visitors based on their needs.
On the bulletin board in the center of the hall, a panoramic map of the hospital was clearly displayed, along with the departments located in each building. The combination of text and illustrations allowed everyone to find their way with ease.
The staff had all changed into clean, tidy, and beautiful new uniforms printed with the Kyoto General Hospital logo. Around their necks, they wore ID badges with their photos and names, and on their faces, they wore infectious smiles.
The first group of visiting leaders, along with the patients and families queuing for treatment, couldn’t take it all in. They simply couldn’t imagine that such a beautiful and elegant place was just a hospital!
And this was only the outpatient lobby. From here, one could get to internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, the emergency room, the traditional Chinese medicine department, the inpatient department, and more. Arrows on the floor provided guidance, complemented by some particularly heartwarming decorations and slogans.
Any floor above the second was equipped with elevators. Every floor had public restrooms for men and women, as well as nursing rooms. Fire hydrants and emergency stairwells were strictly built to code. The landscaping, sports fields, parking lots, and covered parking—every detail revealed the designer’s meticulous care.
It seemed there was nothing Chi Yun’er hadn’t thought of, only things others couldn’t even imagine.
The medical staff had also received service training from Chi Yun’er. They wore smiles and spoke in gentle tones, dispelling everyone’s anxiety and restlessness. Even the pain of their illnesses seemed to lessen, simply because their spirits were being looked after.
All the leaders, patients, and family members who entered the hospital couldn’t stop marveling and praising it. Their thumbs were up the whole way.
