Chapter 149 Come Back and Work for Us

Amelia’s words oozed with sarcasm and hidden meaning.

Patience was caught off guard at first, then quickly gave a thumbs–up and nodded. “Of course, no problem. Rain or shine, I’ll go with you!”

She immediately understood what Amelia was getting at. A fake like Gianna throwing a birthday party? That could only spell disaster.

If Gianna had the nerve to invite Amelia, she shouldn’t be surprised if the two of them ruined her party.

Amelia already gave the Nygards enough headaches–bringing Maxwell’s ex along would make things even more awkward for them.

Just the thought of it was enough to make Patience happy.

The two shared a knowing smile, as if they could already picture the Nygards getting humiliated at the party.

They gossiped about the Nygards for a while, then went their separate ways.

Patience had a meeting with a senior musician at a restaurant. The musician had been unhappy with his current company and wanted out of his contract, so Patience saw a perfect poaching opportunity.

But just after parking her car and walking a few steps, she ran into someone she really didn’t

want to see.

It was Maxwell.

“Why are you here?” Maxwell looked genuinely shocked to see his ex.

“What, you own this place? Am I not allowed here?”

Patience rolled her eyes at him and turned away.

She had planned to walk this way, but after seeing him, she immediately headed in the other direction.

“Hey, why are you walking off so fast?” Maxwell hurried after her, annoyed. “What’s with your attitude?

To Maxwell, Patience had grown prickly–she was nothing like the sweet, caring woman she

used to be.

“What kind of attitude do you mean?” As long as it annoyed him, she was happy to act that way.

“Why do you have to be so sharp with your words? I think we could sit down and talk.”

“Sorry, I have nothing to talk about with you. Can you move? Don’t block my way to success.”

She was on her way to meet the senior musician. If things went well, maybe she could land another star for the company.

So honestly, she had nothing to say to this jerk.

“What are you up to now? Wait, are you still working with Amelia? Why would you lower yourself like that?

No amount of coaching could change that. It was just a waste of time and energy.

In a few years, she probably wouldn’t even land any roles for mindless teen dramas anymore.

Only the Nygards–who all seemed clueless–were still in denial.

“How can you say that about Gianna!” Maxwell was stunned. “You used to support her and be so nice to her. Why are you like this now?”

“Please, I was blind before, but I’m not anymore. If I don’t care about you, why would I care about Gianna?”

Patience rolled her eyes again. She was going to walk off in style but couldn’t resist taking a few more shots.

“Don’t you realize you’re acting exactly like that jerk, Vincent, now?

“You never appreciated what you had, and now you actually think I’d come back for you? Dream on.”

“Patience, I’m only offering to help you for old times‘ sake.”

Maxwell frowned, putting on his best ‘nice guy‘ act, and reminding her.

“Don’t forget, your leech of a brother is always asking for money. Only the Nygards offer a real high salary for you.”

“High salary? What you’re offering doesn’t even match a maid’s wages. Ugh!”
