Chapter 268 Let’s Team Up

After saying that, Marcelo turned away from the table and walked off.

Miguel watched his brother’s relaxed figure disappear and suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

What was that about?

All Marcelo did was pat me on the shoulder, yet it felt like I had been cursed. Eerie.

Marcelo, however, couldn’t care less what his two foolish brothers were thinking.

Now that Amelia was finally back home, he wanted to find a chance to talk to her. He knew he had to swallow a bit of pride and make peace.

He figured that if he sincerely admitted his mistakes and promised to stop siding with Gianna, Amelia would surely forgive him.

With that in mind, he strolled toward the back garden of Nygard Estate, only to spot Amelia perched lazily on a thick tree branch.

She was alone, legs swinging casually, one hand playing with her phone, the other typing on her laptop.

“Amelia, why are you sitting so high up? You’ve got your laptop in one hand and your phone in the other–what if you fall?”

Marcelo tried his best to sound gentle and caring.

Amelia, relaxed and perfectly content up in her tree, found his voice utterly annoying.

Her peaceful mood was ruined in an instant.

She ignored him completely, treating him like thin air, and went on with what she was doing.

nonsense.

Didn’t he get the hint?

Marcelo noticed her ignoring him. Normally, he would’ve felt embarrassed and lost face.

But now, he understood why she was acting this way.

He had already decided he was going to coax her, so even if she coldly brushed him off, he

wasn’t about to lose his temper.

“Amelia, can you come down? I have something I want to talk to you about.”

“No. I’m not interested in anything you have to say.”

Amelia was genuinely irritated. Her voice was blunt and dismissive.

“Amelia, do you really have to talk to me like that? I’m still your brother.”

Even though he wanted to reconcile, Marcelo couldn’t completely let go of his pride.

Just one sharp retort from her, and Marcelo couldn’t help but pull the big brother card.

“So what?” Amelia looked down at him from the tree, her gaze calm yet commanding.

Her aura made her look like a queen on her throne.

He was certain Amelia wanted to see the scheming woman thrown out once and for all so she could comfortably return home and reclaim her rightful place as the Nygards‘ daughter.

No one would ever compete with her for affection again.

But instead, Amelia just let out a scoff.

“Why should I team up with you? If you’ve got nothing better to do, then get lost. You’re in my way,” she said nonchalantly.

She had always been capable of driving Gianna out of the Nygards if she wanted to. The only reason she hadn’t rushed to do it was because of Gianna’s “illegitimate daughter” status and the woman behind her, Regina.

Something about it didn’t sit right with Amelia. She was certain Regina’s ambitions went far beyond just taking Emery’s place.

And she could feel that there was more to Gianna’s “illegitimate daughter” identity. Something she didn’t know yet.

Still, she didn’t mind sitting back and watching that scheming woman play her little games, stringing the Nygards along like fools.

She was curious about their faces when they realized the sweet, innocent girl they’d been doting on all this time had been making a fool of them.

For now, Marcelo seemed calm on the surface, even trying to reconcile. However, Amelia could tell. Deep down, he was anything but calm.
