Chapter 283 A Slap in the Face
This time, Gianna had been completely humiliated–and it was all Regina’s fault.
Regina’s face turned dark as soon as she heard Gianna’s accusation. She frowned, her irritation rising.
She had already been in a bad mood lately. Too many things felt like they were slipping out of her control.
And now Gianna dared to blame her? That only made her angrier.
“I told you before to study this properly,” she snapped. “It would’ve helped you so much later on! But every time you hit a problem, you just rely on me.”
She was so furious she almost blurted out, “If only you had half your father’s research skills!”
But she stopped herself just in time, biting her tongue as cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Gianna felt a mix of frustration and discomfort. She wanted to keep arguing but didn’t quite have the nerve.
Because of that, she completely missed the subtle change in Regina’s expression.
“Alright, this isn’t all your fault,” Regina said finally, forcing her tone to soften. “I should’ve been more careful.
“It’s not that I didn’t want to help you or speak up,” she added. “Our communication was cut off.”
“Cut off?” Gianna looked stunned.
“Didn’t you say this was the latest high–tech gadget? You said even the strongest jammers couldn’t touch it!”
This was her. first time using it, and it had already failed.
So what was all that pain for when she had the chip implanted? Had she suffered for nothing?
“In theory, it shouldn’t have been interfered with,” Regina said, frowning. “Even the most advanced government technology can’t easily jam or tap into this kind of device.
“But whatever the other side is using, it somehow managed to break through.”
She hadn’t seen that coming at all.
This chip communicator was the latest prototype, personally designed by him—and it hadn’t

even been released on the market yet.
Even top government labs didn’t have the capability to build something like it.
Whoever had managed to mess with it must have been a technical genius.
Amelia–it had to be her.
Regina didn’t know if anyone else was involved, but she was certain Amelia had a hand in it.
That brat was proving to be a lot harder to deal with than she’d expected.

But now she knew–if she kept letting that girl grow unchecked, she’d turn into a real problem.
Regina looked Gianna straight in the eye, then cupped her face gently.
“Gianna, you have extraordinary blood in you,” she said softly. “If you work hard, you won’t be any worse than that girl. You might even surpass her.
“For now, don’t do anything. Stay out of it. Focus on your own work. I’ll clear every obstacle in your path, okay?”
Gianna felt uneasy. The way Regina stared at her–like she was seeing someone else through her–made her skin crawl.
She didn’t understand what Regina really meant, but she still nodded obediently. “Okay.”
She knew Regina was powerful and had plenty of secrets she couldn’t begin to guess at.
Gianna didn’t dare pry. She just knew Regina loved her and was capable of anything.
That was enough.
Meanwhile, word about Amelia’s flawless presentation, detailed explanation, and hands–on demonstration spread quickly throughout Nygard Group.
