Chapter 50 The Charity Gala Invitation
Thea smiled warmly and took her hand. “Thanks to you, otherwise, I wouldn’t even have the chance to sit here.”
“Aunt Thea, you’ll be fine. Don’t worry,” Amelia reassured her softly.
“Amelia, are you hungry? Should I have the maid make your favorite tortellini puttanesca?”
“No rush. Let me check on you first. How’s your sleep lately? Still getting headaches?” Amelia asked, gently holding her wrist.
“No headaches. I’ve been sleeping great, don’t worry.” Thea smiled.
“That’s good.”
“Oh, by the way.” Thea added, “my friend sent me two invitations to a charity gala this weekend. It’s mostly young socialites. You and Demi should go.”
Demi nodded right away. “Amelia, let’s go together. I haven’t been back in a while. I don’t really know the social scene anymore.”
“Sure,” Amelia agreed. “I’m not really familiar with it either. We’ll go together.” Truth was, Amelia couldn’t care less about those fancy events.
All those socialites are pretending to be kind, competing with each other. It made her sick.
But when she saw the hope in Thea’s eyes, she couldn’t say no. In the end, she agreed.
“Perfect!” Demi clapped excitedly. “I brought a few gowns with me. Amelia, we can pick one together!”
Amelia turned back to Thea. “When’s the gala, Aunt Thea?”
“This Saturday. It’s at the Starluxe Hotel.”
Thea smiled at them with pride. “You young ladies should get out more. Oh, and I heard Gianna will be there too–be careful.”
Thea reminded Amelia with concern.
After the surgery, Thea had completely fallen out with Raymond and his family.
Who knew what tricks Gianna might pull this time?
After this episode, Thea had learned to let things go.
Amelia smiled calmly. “Don’t worry. We’ll be fine.”
Of course Gianna would be there. An event like that wouldn’t be complete without her.
But if Gianna tried to start something, Amelia wouldn’t hold back.

Chapter 50 The Charity Gala Invitation
Saturday night, at the Starluxe Hotel.
Amelia and Demi headed out together.
When they arrived at the ballroom, the party was already in full swing.
Finisherf
Under the dazzling crystal chandeliers, elegant guests moved gracefully through the crowd. The air was filled with perfume, laughter, and the soft clinking of champagne glasses.

See the world? As if she needed that.
She had attended social events far more exclusive than this.
But she was humble and never bragged about it.
Jewels, silks, antiques, paintings–she’d seen it all.
And now they thought a small, second–rate charity party could impress her? How ridiculous.
Gianna’s smile froze. She had planned to humiliate Amelia but somehow ended up being the one embarrassed instead.
As more guests began arriving, Gianna quickly pulled Belinda back to their seats.
Fine, she thought coldly. We’ll see who laughs last.
She didn’t even need to say anything this time. Amelia would probably embarrass herself.
The auction items tonight were antiques and paintings–things Gianna was sure Amelia wouldn’t understand.
Finished
She remembered bringing Amelia to a similar event once. Amelia had stayed quiet the entire evening, sitting there timidly.
