What is that thing? Its outline looks like a tank?
Natalie couldn't help but take a couple of steps closer.
Thick black steel plating, a reinforced steel bumper, sharp and angular lines ...
Is that a Knight XV?
It was the same armored car she saw on the winding road near the hillside mansions—she had loved it at first sight.
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
Whoever owned this thing was seriously impressive. Not only did they have a private helicopter and a helipad, but they even managed to haul a whole car up to the rooftop.
The rooftop had good drainage, so the vehicle was in excellent condition.
Natalie couldn't stop running her hands over the tough, armored body. It was the perfect doomsday vehicle. Not only could it plow through any regular car like they were toys, it could probably take a grenade hit without breaking a sweat.
Unfortunately, she didn't have the keys. Without them, she couldn't drive it or store it in her portable storage space.
Wait ... the keys!
She remembered the box of car keys she had found earlier in the mall owner's office.
The guy had so many car keys, he had to keep them in a box.
Natalie rummaged through it and finally found one with a "K" logo among all the Bentley, Maybach, and Lamborghini keys.
She pressed the button. The headlights flashed.
It was unlocked.
Of course—it belonged to the big boss too. Natalie quickly stored the armored vehicle in her storage space.
Thanks for the generous donation!
After coming down from the rooftop, she searched every floor of the building.
Compared to the boss's private office, the rest of the place was unimpressive. Just standard office supplies, nothing useful to her.
But she did find some newly leased units that were full of construction materials—concrete, tiles, stone slabs, paint.
Natalie grabbed as much as she could.
She knew from her past life how valuable this stuff would become. At the official government survivor bases, you could trade these materials for housing.
In her last life, she had nothing. She never made it into a base and ended up on the run until the very end. This time, she planned.
By the time she left the building, it was already 3:30 a.m. Natalie jumped into her motorboat and headed back to her condo.
On the way, she passed by a pharmaceutical plant. She decided to take a look and, finding it abandoned, went in to scavenge.
The place didn't just have the basic medicines she had been collecting—there were herbs, vaccines, and even a few pieces of medical equipment.
In the apocalypse, getting sick was practically a death sentence. Even with a top-tier doctor, you'd die from a simple infection if you didn't have meds.
Now that she had all these supplies, her chances of survival had gone up again.
As she packed the goods into her storage space, Natalie couldn't help but feel satisfied. Tonight's haul was insane.
By the time she returned to her condo, the floodwaters had already swallowed the entire first floor. It wouldn't be long before the water woke up the residents on the second floor.
Natalie rushed to her unit.
The moment she opened the door, Lucky came bounding up, tail wagging wildly.
"Lucky, calm down! I'm soaking wet."
She changed out of her rain-soaked clothes before snuggling with her excited pup.
Still holding Lucky, she headed to the kitchen and made herself a cup of hot chocolate.
She couldn't afford to catch a cold right now.
After finishing her drink, she took a long, hot shower before finally collapsing into bed.
At dawn, an AW139 helicopter landed steadily on a rooftop despite the storm.
A man in a suit stepped out, opened his umbrella, and stared in shock at the now-empty rooftop.
"Where's the car?"
Frowning, he headed downstairs into the adjacent mall—only to freeze at the sight of the empty, looted interior.
"Where's all the stuff?"
The whole city was underwater. The only way to get around was by boat. Who could've pulled this off? Who could move an entire mall's worth of goods overnight?
Who the hell would do something this shady?
