When the World Ends, She Begins novel Chapter 35

That night.

Natalie was curled up on the couch with her dog, watching a downloaded comedy and munching on some spicy duck neck snacks. Suddenly, Lucky stood up, ears pricked, eyes fixed on the front door.

Following her gaze, Natalie got up and crept toward the entryway. Pressing her ear to the door, she caught the faint sound of movement outside.

Another idiot trying to break in?

From the sounds, it didn't seem like more than a few people. Natalie pulled a triangular bayonet from her storage and quietly cracked open her apartment door, stepping into the hallway.

The stairwell door blocked her view of the corridor, so she couldn't make out what was out there. She swung the door open and lunged with her knife—

Only to stab at empty air.

No one was there. Just a note taped to the wall.

"Be ready tomorrow morning. We're taking your supplies."

Natalie ripped the note down and went back inside.

Lucky sniffed around her legs, tail wagging. She scratched her head, then unfolded the paper for a closer look.

Hmm ...

The handwriting is messy and jagged, like someone had scrawled it in a hurry.

Could anyone actually write this sloppily?

Then, a strange feeling hit her. She paused, staring at the note.

And suddenly—it clicked. This handwriting was the same as the notes she’d gotten in her previous life!

Four years had passed, and she had almost forgotten.

Back then, she had received a note just like this one—same weird, jagged handwriting, just with different words.

That old note had said, "Watch out for Tiffany and Braxton."

Back then, Braxton and Tiffany had only just moved into her apartment. When Natalie found the note that had somehow been slipped into her bag, she was a little wary.

But looking closely, she hadn't noticed anything suspicious.

They hadn't done anything to harm her. In fact, every time they scavenged for supplies, Braxton would take a little less for himself and share the extra with the two girls. Even in this post-apocalyptic world, he had kept a sense of decency.

And Tiffany had always been warm and friendly toward her, like a caring older sister.

So she quickly let her guard down and trusted them completely, dismissing the note as some prank.

Now, looking back, it was probably just someone who had overheard Tiffany and Braxton's scheming and was trying to warn her.

Only she had no idea who it could be—and in this life, someone had chosen to warn her again.

A "note hero," huh? Well, thanks, I guess.

With the experience from last time, she wasn't about to ignore it.

Is everyone showing up tomorrow morning to take my supplies?
