When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1031

Lemira nodded. It was indeed because of the memories from the crash.

Orion squeezed her hand. "It's in the past now. You're safe."

Hearing those words from him again felt incredibly comforting and tender. She leaned greedily into his chest, feeling a deep sense of reliance. Her dreams had been nothing short of suffocating nightmares, and she had fought desperately to wake up. Now, resting in his arms, a profound wave of security washed over her.

Orion sensed her need for comfort and held her quietly, wanting nothing more than to offer her warmth. He suspected she had recalled something terrible Rowan had done to her in the past, which was why she was so terrified. But he didn't dare ask, afraid of reopening her wounds.

While Lemira thought about the crash, Orion wondered what Rowan had put her through. They both fell into a tacit silence.

After resting for a while, Lemira realized it was probably inappropriate to keep clinging to him, considering they were supposedly broken up. She slowly sat up, slipping out of his embrace. Avoiding his gaze, she murmured, "I'm a little hungry."

"I'll have someone bring you food. What do you want to eat?"

She shook her head. "Anything is fine."

She didn't actually have much of an appetite; it was just an excuse to pull away and avoid the awkwardness.

Seeing her pale, exhausted face, his tone softened even more. "Then I'll have Bistrova send something over."

Lemira nodded.

After the brief exchange, the silence grew heavy. She patted the pillows around her. "Where's my phone?"

"It's likely still at your dorm. When Stella and the others come by, I'll have them bring it."

"Okay." She just wanted to text them she was safe so they wouldn't worry.
