When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1040

Stella continued, "To bury the scandal, the heir's mother supposedly had to pay off Gregory Jones with a massive check and beg for his forgiveness. Now, every elite family has explicitly ordered their sons to cut all ties with Sophia. She's completely blacklisted."

Lemira took a moment to process the chaos. "She came to the hospital to beg Mrs. Amanda this morning, but got rejected."

"If I were Mrs. Amanda, I would have thrown her out too," Janice scoffed. "That entire family is insane."

Mrs. Amanda's previous suffering was a prime example. The Sinclairs were parasites; anyone who let them in got drained dry.

"The video of her getting caught in the hotel leaked online," Stella added, shaking her head. "She went from the city's top socialite to a scandalous socialite overnight. My aunt pulled some strings and made sure the media pushed it everywhere. Sophia is utterly finished."

With the public already despising the Sinclair family's arrogance, everyone was gleefully watching them burn.

"This is exactly what she deserves," Janice said.

"She actually had an out," Lemira noted. "Mrs. Amanda offered to pay for her to go abroad and start over, but she refused."

She recounted the confrontation at the hospital.

Janice rolled her eyes. "She is unbelievably greedy. She wanted the Sinclair Group saved AND her mother kept out of prison. Does she think Mrs. Amanda is a genie?"

"Exactly," Stella agreed. "The greed is sickening. Sophia actually has a brain, but she ruined her own life trying to protect her psycho mother. It's pathetic."

Lemira genuinely hadn't expected Sophia to drive herself off a cliff. Now that she was being publicly crucified online, it was hard to feel any pity for her. She had dug her own grave.

"I just don't get it," Lemira murmured. "She's so calculating. How did she not realize her mother was a sinking ship? Why tie herself to the anchor?"

"Not necessarily," Stella theorized. "If Amelia went to prison, the Sinclair family's reputation would be permanently destroyed. Sophia probably couldn't handle the social humiliation, which is why she fought so hard to stop you."
