Orion looked at her intently. "What makes you say that?"
"Think about it. Sophia knows there's no saving Amelia, and she herself has hit rock bottom. The one thing she wants more than anything is to lock you down.
"She must have kept a trump card in her back pocket. Otherwise, she wouldn't have invited you to a hotel."
Lemira suspected Sophia was already drowning in regret, but there was no turning back now.
Her only ticket out of this mess was marrying Orion.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying she wants to sleep her way to the top in that hotel room? Tsk, tsk. Is someone really that irresistible?"
"It's not about personal charm," Thaddeus corrected him. "It's the allure of money and power. Sophia loves the status of the Everhart family, just like she loved Gregory's wallet."
Orion frowned, his focus remaining on Lemira. "Even so, there's no need to go to the hotel. I'll send my people to track her down."
"We won't have enough time."
Lemira held his gaze. "We're trying to prepare for both scenarios, but finding a match is incredibly difficult. And who knows what kind of demands Rowan will make later? Getting the original match back is our best-case scenario."
"I'll go to the hotel," Thaddeus volunteered.
Lemira shook her head. "You going won't accomplish anything."
"None of you going will accomplish anything," Sebastian chimed in. "You can't reason with a shameless piece of work. You have to play dirty."
Lemira looked at the attorney. "What do you suggest?"
Lowering his voice, Sebastian outlined his plan.
When he finished, Lemira nodded thoughtfully. "That might actually work."
Sebastian smirked, looking exceedingly pleased with himself. "Truth is, men have plenty of ways to handle problematic women. It just comes down to whether they're ruthless enough."
Orion was speechless.
Thaddeus rolled his eyes. "Why do you always have to sound so painfully passive-aggressive?"
"Do I?" Sebastian asked innocently.
"Don't you?" Thaddeus shot back.
