"I can handle the preparations myself. I just need a fully equipped laboratory. The antitoxin needs to be synthesized from scratch."
Hearing this, Lemira glanced over at Orion.
The man gave a curt nod. "I'll have my people set up a facility immediately."
Rowan continued, "I will draft a list of the specific instruments and medical equipment I require. Fair warning, it's going to be extremely expensive."
Orion turned his head, his gaze locking with Rowan's. The air between them practically crackled with hostility.
Orion spoke flatly. "Price is irrelevant."
Rowan let out a soft scoff. "I'll have my assistant coordinate the details with you."
His arrogant posture made it entirely clear he didn't view Orion as a threat or an equal.
Standing off to the side, Thaddeus was burning with indignation, but he kept his mouth shut. For the moment, Rowan was the only man who could save Amanda's life.
They couldn't afford to alienate him.
Lemira let out a quiet sigh of relief. The plan was set, and Amanda finally had a lifeline.
Just then, Rowan turned his focus back to her. "Are you free tonight?"
Lemira looked up. "Do you need something?"
Rowan offered a smooth smile. "Nothing specific. It's just been a long time since you came home, and everyone misses you. If you have the time, come back and have dinner with the family."
The immediate, instinctual reaction in Lemira's chest was pure resistance.
Lucian quickly chimed in. "He's right, Lemmy. We're blood siblings, after all. I know we've had our fair share of terrible conflicts, but whenever you've needed something recently, we've dropped everything to help you without hesitation."
Orion's dark eyes narrowed dangerously. "Could you stop guilt-tripping her?"
Caspian bristled. "Who's guilt-tripping her? We're just extending an invitation. We're not forcing her into anything."
Lucian kept his eyes pleadingly on Lemira. "Lemmy, we just want to share a meal with you. It's just dinner, nothing more."
Rowan added smoothly, "If you really don't want to, forget it. But regardless of your answer, I will honor my promise to treat the Everhart family. I gave you my word, and I will keep it."
Lemira pressed her lips into a thin line. "Tonight doesn't work for me. Tomorrow."
Rowan exhaled, his shoulders dropping slightly. "Alright."
With the agreement settled, the Langston brothers finally departed together.
