Lucian lived in a constant state of regret.
The Langston brothers had endured so much hardship over the years, pouring all their energy into their careers to reclaim their pride.
But in their blind ambition, they had completely neglected their youngest sister.
Because of their negligence, her life in the Langston family had been a living hell.
Now that the truth was out, they had to work twice as hard to earn her forgiveness.
Asher shook his head. "You've lost your mind. That girl doesn't appreciate a damn thing."
Having no desire to linger in the hospital, Asher left in a sour mood.
Lucian turned to the nurse to finalize the arrangements. "Keep the body in the morgue for now. I'll have someone come by to handle the paperwork."
The hospital was under strict orders to maintain complete secrecy. They would handle Evelina's funeral arrangements internally to keep the tabloid reporters off their scent.
This way, the paparazzi wouldn't catch on to anything suspicious.
Alaric cast a cold glance back at the hospital. "Let's just hope Evelina's death doesn't drag the Langstons into another mess."
He harbored a deep loathing for Evelina now, but he hated himself even more for being foolish enough to fall for her lies.
Lucian clapped a hand on Alaric's shoulder. "One step at a time."

The next morning, the trial resumed.
Lemira walked into the Lyria High Court with Sebastian Bennett by her side, a cup of coffee in hand.
They arrived exceptionally early, beating most of the paparazzi to the steps.
Sebastian handed her a small paper bag. "The absolute best breakfast you'll find near the courthouse. I'll reluctantly let you have a bite."
Lemira took a small pastry from the bag and took a bite, her eyes widening in pleasant surprise. "This is amazing."
Sebastian smirked, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "Told you. Don't you ever get tired of dining at Bistrova? The most incredible food is always hidden in these little alleyways."
"I never would have pegged the impeccable Attorney Bennett as someone so down-to-earth."
