Evelina bowed her head, sobbing in silence, cursing Lemira a thousand times over in her mind. It was all the maid’s fault for going into that room and letting Lemira find out.
Evelina had done it intentionally—she wanted to disgust Lemira.
But that wretched Lemira had actually destroyed the room.
And she’d cut up her own wedding dress!
Now Evelina was filled with regret. If only she’d been more careful.
Lucian sighed helplessly. “Lemmy, you really shouldn’t have ruined the wedding dress. Now she has something to use against you.”
Lemira’s expression was cold and stern. “I do what I want. If you can’t stand it, then leave.”
At that, Evelina’s sobs grew even louder.
Just then, someone entered from outside. “Good news—someone has delivered a dress.”
A representative from a designer boutique walked in, carrying a white evening gown, and placed it in the center of the living room.
When Evelina saw the brand, she instantly brightened. “Evander, you always know what I like! But there’s black detailing on this dress—it won’t work.”
Evander looked directly at the representative. “Yes, I need a white dress for my wedding. Please take this back and bring another.”
The representative replied, “Actually, this isn’t a wedding gown. It’s an evening dress for someone attending the wedding.”
Evelina’s face changed. “What do you mean? I’m the bride. You must be mistaken.”
“I’m not mistaken. May I ask, are you Ms. Lemira Langston?”
Evelina’s expression froze, and she turned back to glare at Evander. “Evander, did you order a dress for Lemira?”
“That’s impossible!” Evander snapped, practically seething. He couldn’t stand Lemira. Why would he ever order a dress for her? Absolutely not!
Lemira spoke up, “I’m Lemira.”
The representative immediately approached her. “Ms. Langston, hello. This dress was prepared especially for you. Would you like to see if it meets your expectations?”
Lemira glanced at it. “But I didn’t order a dress.”
