When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 787

The moment Lemira spoke up, Evelina's expression changed dramatically.

A cold sweat immediately broke out over the "two-faced" girl's back.

She never expected that wretch Lemira to actually have evidence!

But if Lemira really had proof, why had she kept quiet all this time? Was she lying?

Otherwise, if she had evidence, she would have shown it already.

The thought made Evelina feel a little relieved—Lemira had to be bluffing.

She looked up and said, “If you really have evidence, then show it to everyone. I can’t just let you accuse me out of nowhere, can I?”

She was betting that Lemira didn’t actually have anything.

“Sure,” Lemira replied coolly. “At this point, there’s no reason to hide anything.”

Asher couldn’t help but cut in. “Lemira, if you had evidence from the beginning, why didn’t you tell us?”

“Because the person who did it is connected to Evelina’s father. How could I possibly tell you? You wouldn’t have believed me—you’d only end up warning him, and then how would we ever catch her father?”

After Lemira’s bracing statement, Asher fell silent.

It was true; he wouldn’t have believed her back then.

Only now did Asher realize just how much he had distrusted his only sister.

Evander grumbled, “Lemira, why waste time talking? If you have evidence, just show everyone.”

Lemira pulled out her phone and brought up a surveillance clip.

“The day the chief steward was locked in the cellar, this man showed up at the Langston Estate. He’s the one who killed the old butler.”

Asher glanced at the video and asked, “Who is he?”

He glanced at Evelina, his gaze especially complicated. “I used to think you were vain and petty, but I never thought you’d be so vicious—or brave enough to have someone killed.”

“Lucian, how can you just believe her? This is all Lemira’s guesswork! The video only shows someone outside the Langston Estate—it doesn’t prove they ever came inside.”

A moment ago, Evelina had been terrified at what damning footage Lemira might have.

But it turned out to be just a street camera outside the estate.

There was no video from inside at all. Evelina had long since prepared for this and erased all the footage—so there was no physical evidence left.

As long as she flatly denied everything, there was no direct proof linking her to the butler’s death.

Deep down, Evelina seethed with hatred at the old butler.

That old fool dared to touch her—he deserved to die.
