When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 802

Lemira didn’t buy into the idea that gamblers could be so loyal.

Orion suddenly smiled. “That’s actually a good idea.”

Lemira glanced at the photo. “But we should also test Evelina, just in case she tries to lie.”

If both of them gave the same answer, it would prove that the person in question was indeed Hale.

But if their answers didn’t match, then someone was definitely lying.

After saying this, Orion looked down at Lemira. “What did Sophia say to you?”

In fact, when Orion learned that Sophia had gone to see Lemira, he had been nervous—he worried that Sophia might reveal to Lemira what really happened in the car accident all those years ago.

So, all the way while Lemira was coming over, Orion had been uneasy.

“Sophia probably already knows about the accident, so she was testing me—trying to figure out if I know the Sinclair family was involved.”

“And how did you answer her?”

“Of course, I didn’t let on that I knew anything about it. Since the investigation isn’t finished, it’s best not to let the Sinclair family get suspicious. If they catch on too early, they might erase any remaining evidence.”

Lemira was still very guarded when it came to Sophia.

At least, until she had all the evidence, she wasn’t ready to confront the Sinclair family directly.

Lemira looked up at Orion. “How is Mrs. Amelia? Has she shared any more clues?”

“She hasn’t,” Orion replied.

As he said this, he avoided Lemira’s eyes—because he wasn’t being fully truthful.

Debby, standing by, shot Orion a meaningful glance. She already knew that Mrs. Amelia had admitted yesterday the person in the backseat was someone from the Everhart family.

Lemira nodded. “Let’s hope we can find that person soon.”

She then asked Orion, “When do you plan on letting Mrs. Amelia go? This situation has already caused quite a stir—the gossip columns are already reporting that a wealthy society matron was kidnapped.”

Lemira was mostly worried that, if Mrs. Amanda found out, she’d misunderstand Orion.

“Are you worried about me?” Orion teased.

Faced with his deep gaze, Lemira instinctively looked away. “Well, you only kidnapped Mrs. Amelia because of me. I guess I have to take some responsibility.”

“You don’t have to take responsibility right now,” Orion replied. “But I’ll remember it—in case I want to collect later.”

Orion’s gaze clung to her, the emotion in his eyes intense and deep.

At that moment, Debby’s phone rang. She answered quickly, then rushed over, anxious. “Mrs. Amanda must have found something out. Her car is already on its way here.”
