When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 805

Orion knew that unless he presented solid evidence, his mother would never believe what he said.

“So, what proof do you have?”

Orion played the recording of his earlier conversation with Mrs. Amelia for his mother.

In the recording, Mrs. Amelia could be heard saying, “I just wanted to prevent Mr. and Mrs. Langston from bidding on the project. I never expected they would end up dead. That was just their bad luck!”

Mrs. Amanda was left speechless for a long while after hearing the recording. She truly hadn’t imagined that this was the real truth behind what had happened all those years ago.

“Mom, whether or not Amelia ever tried to harm me is beside the point for now. But she hired someone and bribed the Langston family’s driver, orchestrating an inside job that caused the car accident which killed Lemira’s parents. Amelia has to pay the price for this.”

Mrs. Amanda was silent for a moment before finally saying, “Then just focus on the evidence. Why did you need to resort to kidnapping her?”

“I kidnapped her to force out the evidence. Now, we’ve almost uncovered everything. Once we track down the surviving driver, we can go straight to the police and open an official investigation.”

Mrs. Amanda was stunned—she never would have guessed things would turn out this way. She was even more shocked to discover the Sinclair family’s involvement; she had always assumed what happened back then was a tragic accident. This also made it clear that Orion had already been working with Lemira to investigate the old crash for some time.

“Son, you’re doing all of this for Lemira, aren’t you? Does she know you were in the car that night?”

Orion paused a moment before replying, “She doesn’t know yet.”

“When do you plan to tell her?”

Orion thought about it before answering, “As soon as we catch that driver, I’ll tell Lemira everything.”

Mrs. Amanda took a deep breath and stood up. “But I think you should tell her now. If you’re not willing to do it, then I’ll do it for you.”

This was not something that could wait.

At first, she’d thought Orion was good to Lemira out of guilt, but now she could see clearly—her son truly loved that girl.

“Tell me, Mom, what do you want me to do?”

Orion knew his mother must have her reasons for speaking up now.

“I want you to release Amelia as soon as possible. Whatever happened, I’ll ask her directly.”

“No. Until we catch Hale, she’s not being released. But you don’t have to worry—I won’t harm her, and she’ll be safe.”

Mrs. Amanda hesitated, troubled. “Amelia is getting old. She can’t withstand such a shock, especially before everything is fully investigated. Isn’t it too much to lock Mrs. Amelia up just because of Lemira’s suspicions?”

“And what about Lemira? You know exactly what kind of life she’s had since losing her parents. All of this was Amelia’s doing. If she hadn’t set this in motion, none of this tragedy would have happened. She’s the one truly responsible!”
