When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 853

Seeing the twisted smirk on Sophia's face, Lemira knew her idea of "great news" was anything but.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be speed-running through the mall to cope with her rage.

Lemira kept her expression carefully blank. "Let's hear it."

Normally, she wouldn't give Sophia the time of day, but there was a chance Evelina's disappearance was tied to the Sinclair family.

She needed to hear what the woman had to say to figure out if Evelina was actually in their clutches.

Sophia scrutinized Lemira, a triumphant gleam in her eye. "Word on the street is Evelina went missing."

Lemira's guard immediately went up. Was the Sinclair family really behind this?

"Lemira, you should realize by now that even if you track down that driver, he won't be a good little witness for you. I suggest you throw in the towel, settle this with my family out of court, and take a massive payout. If you keep pushing, you'll walk away with absolutely nothing."

Lemira studied the other woman's face, trying to decipher if she was just fishing for information.

Her expression remained stone-cold. "Sophia, even if it means dragging everyone down with me, I will never settle with the Sinclairs! Keep dreaming!"

Lemira's eyes blazed with deep-seated resentment. Every ounce of suffering she had endured was thanks to them.

She would never back down from making them pay.

"Perfect. Then we'll see who has the last laugh!"

Sophia shoved past Lemira and strutted into the elevator.

After the Sinclair heiress was out of sight, Lemira mulled over the conversation. Something didn't add up.

She turned to Stella. "Do you think the Sinclairs actually have Evelina?"

"Honestly? Probably not. Knowing how they operate, if they had her, Sophia would have been a hundred times more arrogant just now. Plus, she wouldn't be rage-shopping if she had the upper hand."

Lemira nodded in agreement. "You're right. I thought the exact same thing. But she definitely knows Evelina is missing."

"They've probably got spies keeping tabs on the Langstons," Stella reasoned. "It was only a matter of time before the news reached them."

Lemira's lips pressed into a tight line.

Should she head over with Orion?

She glanced at her phone, a wave of hesitation washing over her.

Stella caught the look. "Since we're right down the block, why don't you shoot him a text or give him a call? You guys can just leave together."

Janice bounced with excitement. "Or you could just walk right up and surprise him!"

Lemira also felt the idea of leaving directly with Orion sounded perfect.

The three of them took a short stroll over to the towering corporate building.

Standing outside the Everhart Group, Lemira marveled at the sleek, luxurious architecture.

It truly lived up to its reputation as the most powerful corporate empire in the city.

She checked the time. "We're early. Let me buy you both a coffee."
