"This is Waverly family business. It is not your place to interfere!"
Mrs. Waverly's blood boiled just looking at Lemira. If it weren't for Orion backing the girl up, she would have taught her a brutal lesson.
Unfortunately, she could only imagine it. She couldn't actually make a move.
Asher looked at Stella. "I know you need time to process this. I'll give you space. Eventually, you'll realize I'm the best man for you."
He knew he used a bastard's method to secure her money, but he fully intended to take responsibility for her.
He meant every word.
Lemira grabbed Stella's hand. "Let's go!"
Mrs. Waverly tried to block them, but Orion stepped right in her path. "I'd advise you to stop committing crimes, unless you want to end up behind bars one day."
A faint smile played on his lips, but the threat was unmistakable.
Mrs. Waverly was speechless.
Asher fell silent.
The implication in the man's words hung heavily in the air.
With Orion covering their exit, Lemira forcefully led Stella outside.
When Stella saw the luxury car parked brazenly at the entrance, leaving deep tire tracks across the pristine lawn, she instantly knew what had gone down. A wave of immense gratitude washed over her.
Thank God she still had friends.
Lemira spoke up, "Let's get in the car first."
She sat in the backseat with Stella, refusing to let go of her hand. "Are you really okay? If you want to call the police, we'll go with you."
She was terrified Asher had hurt her.
Stella shook her head. "I don't want to go back to campus. Can you help me book a hotel?"
"You're coming to my place," Lemira decided immediately.
Hearing this, Orion turned the steering wheel in a new direction. He knew exactly where Lemira lived.
Soon, the car pulled into the apartment's underground garage.
Orion stepped out and looked at Lemira. "I'm going to grab some food. You two head up first."
He knew the girls needed a private space to talk.
Relieved, Stella immediately dialed Felipa's number.
The call connected quickly. A woman's voice came through, "Are you back at school?"
"I'm at a friend's place. Are you okay over there?"
"I'm fine. They're so busy celebrating that they haven't noticed a thing. But I bought our plane tickets to leave tonight, so I don't become a liability to you."
Stella fell silent for a moment. "Thank you."
She never had a good impression of the woman who was once the other woman.
But after all these years, she never expected Felipa to risk everything for her.
After all, Felipa could have easily taken Mrs. Waverly's deal and forced Stella to sign the real papers.
Plus, Felipa's striking resemblance to Evelina Sterling always gave Stella a subconscious aversion to her.
Stella paused before asking, "Why did you help me?"
She still felt a strange mixture of emotions she couldn't quite name.
