When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 918

Amelia's eyes widened in genuine surprise. "Are you serious?"

"Mom, this is incredible news! As long as we have Evelina hostage, we can force that driver to keep his mouth shut."

Amelia nodded, a sinister smile creeping onto her face. "God is clearly on our side. Come on, let's go pay Evelina a visit."

Sophia was thrilled. As long as the Sinclair family survived this crisis, she would still have a chance to destroy that bitch, Lemira.

The two women drove straight to the location where Evelina was being held.

It was an abandoned warehouse. Sophia covered her nose in disgust. "Mom, is this really a safe place to keep her?"

"It's the safest place possible. This property belongs to the Sinclairs; no one will find her here."

As they walked further in, they found a woman bound hand and foot, a filthy rag stuffed in her mouth.

The blindfold was yanked off, and Evelina blinked against the harsh light, staring in horror at the Sinclair women.

Panic clawed at her throat. Why the hell had the Sinclairs kidnapped her?

Terror set in as she realized they definitely intended to use her as a pawn.

Amelia tutted condescendingly at Evelina. "If you cooperate with me and convince your father to take the fall entirely, I will personally guarantee you'll live in absolute luxury for the rest of your life."

Sophia sneered down at the captive girl. "The Langstons are just using you anyway. Once they squeeze you dry, do you really think they're going to keep treating you like family?"

Hearing that, Evelina lowered her gaze in bitter realization. Weren't the Sinclairs using her too?

There was literally zero difference between the Langstons and the Sinclairs.

Losing patience, Amelia snapped, "Have you thought it over? Because if you refuse, those deep industrial pits behind this warehouse are going to be your permanent address."

Evelina cast a terrified glance over her shoulder, a cold sweat breaking out across her back.

She absolutely did not want to die.

Evelina stared at Amelia. "Why do you need me to do this? Didn't my father act on his own when he killed Lemira's parents?"

Amelia let out a sharp laugh. "That's the lie we feed the public, obviously. Your father is holding onto proof of the deal we made. If you can either destroy that evidence or convince him to take all the blame, the Sinclair family will make it worth your while."
