Wild Nights With My Brother’s Ex-Best Friend novel Chapter 134

ROMAN

Angus Calieri is Nikki’s father?

Angus?

I’m in disbelief even though I’m looking really fucking closely at them. I see their resemblances staring back at me, and it makes me wonder how I never noticed them before.

“You know each other,” Nikki comments, staring back and forth between me and him. I can see in her face that she’s shocked by this.

But not as shocked as I am.

“Roman and I go a long way back,” Angus claims, flashing me a smile. “But what I’m curious about is how the two of you know each other.”

“We’ve known each other for years,” Nikki explains because I sure as hell wouldn’t. “Roman and my brother were best friends. He was always around growing up.”

Angus nods slowly and turns his head to look at me with his blue eyes narrowed to slits. “Ah. I see. What a… wonderful coincidence.”

The way he’s looking at me makes me feel all strange, like I have ants crawling all over my body. If Nikki weren’t his daughter, I would’ve assumed that he had a wicked plan inmind or something.

I don’t like any of this one bit.

“And a pleasant surprise,” Angus adds after a second thought. “You don’t know how happy this makes me, Nicole.”

I sense her confusion and it mirrors mine. What the hell does he mean by that?

Why would this make him happy? Why would he care?

Just then, someone starts walking toward us and when I turn my head to see whoever it is, my gaze lands on Leonardo Calieri-Angus’s son. He looks back and forth between all three of us with a furrow between his brows, and his father waves him over.

“Leo? Come over here for a moment, son. I want you to meet someone.”

Leo tenses as he stops beside his father and stares at us. ” Nicole and Roman are together. They’re a couple. Isn’t that interesting? Isn’t it just great?”

Again, this doesn’t sit well with me at all and even Nicole asks, “Why do you say it’s great? What’s going on?”

Angus places his hand on her shoulder and I have the urge to smack his hand away, but I stay put. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

His eyes meet mine and he smiles coldly. I then look overat Leonardo and see that he looks extremely annoyed about this.

I should’ve been paying more attention to this whole thing. Nikki tried to tell me but I was so worried about Esmeralda Garcia that I wasn’t even listening to her. Now that I know who her biological father is, I’m alarmed.

What the hell does Angus want from her?

Why did he force her to come to this party? Why is he trying so hard to make her a part of his life? I know for a fact that he has three children who constantly fight to take control of his empire and Leonardo is in the lead.

He definitely wouldn’t want Nikki swooping in and taking what’s rightfully his, so what on earth is going on? I have this sudden protective urge to wrap my arms around her, pick her up, and carry her as far away from this place as possible.

“We’re all in for an unforgettable night,” Angus mentions, straightening his spine. “Aren’t we, son?”

Leonardo doesn’t say a word and the annoyed look doesn’t leave his face.

Angus is definitely planning something and what’s worse is that he’s even trying to hint to us what it is about, and that gets on my nerves. I can’t do a thing. My hands are tied.

“It’s time for us to rejoin the party. Our event will start soon.

“I could say the same thing about you,” Carmen replies in what she thinks is a light voice but she actually sounds crazy. And I don’t want her anywhere near the love of my life. “You have a lot of guts, coming here. Parading around with a man who’s still legally married to someone else.”

“That doesn’t matter, does it?” Nikki retorts. “I think it’smore embarrassing for you to be fighting me about this man who clearly never loved you and is with someone eise. If I were you, I’d keep it classy and walk away.”

Carmen lets out a high-pitched laugh. “Classy? What does a gutter rat like you know about class? You’re a nobody.

You’re the cheapest kind of woman there is and-”

I’ve had enough of this.

“Leave now, Carmen,” I warn her. “Don’t do something you’ll regret.”

Her eyes are wide as she stares at me. “Or what? What could you possibly do to me? Do you think I’m scared of you? In our world, you’re a nobody, too, Roman. I think you forgot that. If I ask my cousins to shoot you right now, nobody will avenge you.”

I step between her and Nikki, and she through clenched teeth, “You just fucking try and you’ll see what I’ll do to you.”

Carmen dares me with her eyes. I stare right back at her, showing I’m not afraid.

“Nicole, is something wrong?”

We all turn to the sound of Angus’s voice. He looks more amused than he should be. “Ah. Carmen Lowett. How have you been?”

Carmen doesn’t answer him, but Angus doesn’t seem to care. He gestures at Nicole and says, “I think by nowyou’ve met my daughter, Nicole.”.

The look on Carmen’s face is priceless.
