Wolf Princess Sold to the Dragon King novel Chapter 180

Chapter 180: Tried That, Little Brother

Zero thoughts. Full speed. Best results she’d had all morning.

Two lefts, a right, another left.

In a past life, she must have ran from a serial killer in this Keep because her muscle memory was on point.

Footsteps thundered behind her. Her heart was thudding in her ears.

She turned a corner. Dead end. Just kidding. Her legs took her through a golden archway that flashed into existence because that was her reality now.

No footsteps sounded behind her. But she didn’t slow.

Panic and adrenaline were steering the ship. Why? The All-Star lineup:

Waking up half naked in a bed with three strange men. Seven men living inside of a brown room. A rug with its head still attached. Sun Man tried to light-fuck her. Nicholas had done something to her wolf. And Grey Boner was definitely still at full attention.

The cold air hit her face when she burst out of the tunnel. She glanced around. Obsidian walls. Torches. Mountains. A tree line to her left, thick and dark and offering the one thing she needed more than answers: cover.

She hit the treeline at a dead sprint.

The air was frigid, she was half-naked, and the sun was rapidly fucking off for the night. That’s when she noticed she was glowing. Wonderful. It was contagious. Now she was a walking lantern for her abductors. Perfect.

"Guinevere!" Nicholas’s voice rang out from a distance.

She froze for a split second. Then her wolf spoke for the first time.

They are chasing. We run.

She didn’t need to be told twice. She sprinted like her life depended on it, because it very clearly did.

Her calves burned like hell. Her lungs felt ready to explode. The trees whipped by in a dizzying blur. She was moving at a speed that should’ve been impossible, like she’d stolen someone else’s legs.

A glowing dragon roared in the sky above her then dropped into the trees. Did everything on this goddamn continent glow?

Why the fuck not? At this point she wouldn’t be surprised if the trees started glowing too.

She could hear them chasing her. At least four pairs of boots, maybe more.

Grey Boner was shouting her name between labored breaths like they were old friends. They were not old friends.

Her wolf agreed.

The shift hijacked her before she realized what was happening, the beast bursting free on its own. A flash of white momentarily turned the darkening sky into blinding noon, then she was off to the races.

Two shifts sounded somewhere behind her, paws replacing boots. One of them was definitely running at Alpha speed.

She zigzagged through the trees trying to throw him off. He took five running dives at her. Five for five, she made a sharp cut and he sailed right past her.

Mr. Alpha Speed wasn’t giving up. He started trying reverse psychology, jumping the opposite way of where he thought she’d go. Unfortunately for him, she picked that exact moment to go straight. Pure coincidence that time. A very frustrated roar echoed behind her.

He finally caught her on try number seven. They rolled once down a hill. Then she popped right back up and ran like a bat out of hell.

There was a noticeable pause behind her, followed by a sound she’d never heard a wolf make before. Somewhere between a frustrated howl and an offended huff.

Before Mr. Alpha Speed could attempt try number eight, the treeline to her left exploded with movement. A new guy. Wasn’t in the brown room. A stage five glower. This one was gold.

"Gwen, I’m here now. You’re safe."

She ran in the opposite direction like her ass was on fire and the devil himself was holding the match.

"Tried that a few times, little brother. Welcome to the hunt."

Wonderful. Brothers. They were all goddamn related. She now had a pack of glowing, disturbingly related men on her ass. The good news? None of them could catch her. The bad news? They kept fucking trying.

Golden Boy lunged. Her wolf stopped. He ate dirt. Mr. Sun went next. Her wolf took off. He ate Golden Boy.

"Did she just fake me out?"

"She just played you like a fiddle, my friend."

"Guinevere. Come here. Now."

"We tag team. This lone wolf bullshit strategy is not working," Mr. Sun announced loud enough for Guinevere to hear.

"You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!"

"Did you try a Draconic command?"

"Yes, I fucking tried a Draconic command, Landon. Did you try a little light show?"

Chapter 180: Tried That, Little Brother 2

A light wall bright enough to be seen from space emerged in front of her. She took one look at the giant glowing ’I have candy’ sign and immediately ran the opposite direction. What was the point of that? She genuinely wondered.

"Fuck me," Grey Boner groaned. "She went backwards. She literally just went backwards."

"Regroup. Here’s our new plan," Golden Boy said. He dropped his voice and Guinevere couldn’t hear what came after.
