Wolf Princess Sold to the Dragon King novel Chapter 359

Chapter 359: Loaded For A King, Given To A Queen

Sterling had caught the threat. Damon had ended it. The distinction sat between them like a line drawn in sand and both men knew who had crossed it.

Blair watched Damon release the broken finger the way a woman watches a man reveal a skill set she hadn’t inventoried. Her expression gave the room nothing. Her pulse gave her everything.

"The Princess has asked you three times what you were referring to when you said ’half-blood’s mark.’" Damon’s voice had dropped the measured interrogator tone. What replaced it was something that belonged in a room with fewer witnesses. "She has also asked you about ’surviving an extraction.’ About ’matebond severed before.’ About ’told Solandris the vessel has three now.’ And about a ’kill switch.’"

He let each phrase land on its own. Five grenades. One pin per sentence.

"You have five seconds to explain each, or the middle finger matches. Then the ring finger. Then the pinky. Then we start on the other hand. Go."

Sterling pressed the blade one degree harder against Marek’s neck. Damon stood over the broken finger with the patience of a man who had eight more to work with. Two men from two kingdoms, two species, competing to see who could threaten a prisoner more effectively while standing on opposite sides of a woman neither of them was willing to acknowledge they were performing for.

DRAKENCREST - DRAGON KING’S CHAMBERS

Guinevere Lunaris was watching men she loved fight over her and was done watching.

Maddox swung again.

This one was different. This was the swing meant to END the conversation. The kind of hit that rearranges bone structure and rewrites the rest of the evening. Nicholas was already shifting his weight to dodge because the first one had taught him the trajectory and his body had filed it under things that will happen again.

Guinevere stepped into the gap.

She didn’t think. Thinking would have involved a risk assessment and a cost-benefit analysis and possibly consulting a physician about whether inserting herself between two apex predators mid-combat was categorically insane. There was no thought. There was her body and the space between two men who were going to destroy each other and her slippers covered the distance before her brain filed the paperwork.

Maddox’s fist was already in transit and caught her full across the face.

Every ounce of strength he had loaded for Nicholas Shadowfell. The hit was so hard her slippers left the stone. Her body went sideways, airborne for a fraction of a second that lasted long enough for every man in that room to watch it happen and be unable to stop it.

She hit the floor.

The crack of her head meeting stone was the kind of sound that gets into a room’s bones and stays there. It entered through the ears and settled into the chest and nested and would live in every man present for the rest of their lives whether they wanted it to or not.
