Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 255

The Parsons Group.

Shipley stood in the lobby, glancing around as he took in the tasteful, minimalist décor that radiated understated wealth at every turn. A flicker of envy passed through his deep-set eyes.

He’d never set foot in The Parsons Group before.

Back when he’d crossed paths with Kent in New Haven, he’d always assumed Kent was just another heir trying to prove himself outside the shadow of his powerful family.

Only recently had Shipley realized how utterly mistaken he’d been.

For someone like Kent, moving to New Haven to “make it on his own” was nothing more than a leisurely pastime.

With a family like his, success was practically handed to him on a silver platter.

Compared to his own struggles, Kent’s life seemed effortless.

But if Kent’s life was already so easy—why did he have to take Silvia away from him, too?

“Good morning, sir. Who are you here to see?” The receptionist, a pleasant-faced young woman, smiled at him from behind the marble desk.

Her cheerful expression only fueled Shipley’s irritation.

These people all looked so happy. And him?

“Who am I here to see? Don’t you know? In a company this size, are guests of Mr. Parsons not announced ahead of time? Or were you told and just didn’t bother to remember?”

He lashed out at her without warning, making her visibly uncomfortable.

They rode up to the top floor, where Kent’s offices were located. When the elevator opened, Shipley stepped into a corridor flooded with natural light. Offices lined each side, but the floor was quiet—only Kent’s closest aides and secretaries worked here.

Shipley couldn’t help but look around, his envy growing darker with every step.

He wanted an office like this. Maybe if he had this kind of status and power, sweet Silvia would love him again.

“Mr. Parsons is waiting for you,” said the assistant, knocking on the door. When Kent’s voice called out in reply, he opened it and let Shipley in.

The assistant closed the door behind him and waited outside.

Inside, Kent’s office was even more impressive than the rest of the floor: spacious, luxurious, yet impeccably refined. Every detail—from the subtle décor to the private lounge off to the side—spoke of money, taste, and the kind of privilege Shipley had only ever dreamed of.
