"What?"
Franklin turned his head. Lucille lowered her head behind him and almost buried her head under the table.
"Mr. Moore, I can't ensure that my family will not use my identity to borrow money in the future." Lucille did not want to get a divorce, but she voiced out her concerns frankly.
If Franklin could help her, that would be good.
She lowered her head and waited for an answer from him.
He was silent for a long time before he answered, "Then, let's get a divorce. I don't have time today. We'll do it tomorrow."
Lucille's heart sank when she heard his answer, but she kept nodding. "Okay, then... I will pack up my things today."
"Alright." Franklin looked at Lucille who had lowered her head for a long time, and he became even more unhappy.
She thought that he was relieved of such a heavy burden. After all, he had gotten rid of such a big problem.
When he was gone, Lucille began to pack up her things.
However, she did not go home. Instead, she moved her things to her best friend, Abby Meyer's home.
She and Abby had been in the same school since high school. Ever since they went to college, Abby had walked a different path from her. She studied fine arts while Abby studied IT.
In the morning, when she told Abby that she would move temporarily to her house, Abby hesitated for a long time before saying, "Lucille, although I have two unoccupied rooms in my house, it's a little messy. You'd better contact a housekeeping company to clean it up before you come."
At first, Lucille thought that what Abby said was too exaggerated.
When she brought the housekeeper over, she found that the two empty rooms were definitely not something that one housekeeper could handle.
"This is really messy."
"Oh, well. You only called one housekeeper? Why don't you hire a few more? I will pay for it."
Abby wore a large T-shirt and sat in front of the computer like a tomboy. She did not look at Lucille when she spoke.
Lucille asked the housekeeper to call three more people. It cost 1,200 dollars, and they cleaned for a whole day. It was already evening when they had finished cleaning Abby's house from the inside out.
After cleaning, Lucille made dinner for them.
During the meal, Abby looked at her and asked, "Are you breaking up with that playboy?"
The playboy she was talking about was Franklin.
"I'm going to divorce him tomorrow. Therefore, I moved out from that house first." Lucille lowered her head.
"That's great! I've told you that that playboy was unreliable. Half of the entertainment industry were his girlfriends. How can you want such a man? He'd better not spread any disease to you."
Abby did not support Lucille and Franklin's marriage from the very beginning, but Lucille had made up her mind at that time.
"He was nice to me originally. Later, after we obtained the marriage certificate and before we held a wedding banquet, my father borrowed money under my name and he discovered it..."
Lucille did not have many friends, and she did not say much about her family matters to outsiders. Therefore, she could only tell Abby.
When Abby heard this, she almost threw up the food in her mouth. "No way! I knew your stepmother and sister were weird, but I did not expect that your father was greedy as well. What kind of family do you have?"
Lucille sighed.
She knew that what Franklin said that morning was just so that he could get along with her.
"What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine..."
While they ate, Lucille's mobile phone rang. She glanced at the screen, and her hand, which held onto the phone, stopped in midair...
It's Franklin.
He never called her before.
Abby leaned over to take a look. "Answer it."
She hesitated for a long time and then pressed the answer button.
"I'm at home. Where are you?"
As soon as the phone was connected, Franklin immediately showed his impatience.
Lucille's heart sank. She looked at Franklin and said with difficulty, "Can we go to see my father first..." 'Are you playing tricks on me?" Franklin looked at Lucille and raised his eyebrows slightly.
She had proposed the divorce and something happened on the way, which made it hard for him to believe that it was all a coincidence.
"No, I guarantee you. After I see my father, I will divorce you." Lucille defended herself seriously, "I have brought the bank card from the betrothal gifts that your family gave us. After completing the procedure, I will give the card to you."
She was terribly afraid of being misunderstood by Franklin. Therefore, she quickly took out a blue bank card from her purse.
The car drove all the way to the hospital.
As soon as Lucille arrived at the door, she saw four reporters doing a live broadcast outside.
Judging from what the broadcast, an accident must have happened on the construction site.
Needless to say, it was her family's construction site.
Lucille went in uneasily. As soon as she entered, Alma rushed over and screamed, "Why are you so late? Give me the card immediately. The hospital is waiting for the money to be paid for the operation."
"What's wrong with my father?"
Lucille took the card out of her wallet and asked about her father's condition.
In fact, she did not have much money. The card in her hand was a betrothal gift given by the Moore family. If they divorced, she thought that the money must be returned.
"Lucille, something happened when Dad went to inspect the construction site this morning. It was not only him who was injured, but several other workers were injured as well. Mom and I don't have money, but you have some money on your card. You won’t be stingy at this moment, right?"
Before Lucille came, Alma and Natasha had already planned to let her spit out the betrothal gifts from the Moore family.
After Franklin parked the car, he came in and looked at the three women confronting each other. He went forward and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
In front of others, he was well-dressed and had a good temper.
"Mr. Moore." Alma became less domineering when she saw Franklin and she added awkwardly, "Lucille, your father loves you the most. We really do not have much money in our hands now, and the hospital urged us to pay for the surgery fee. If there were any other solutions, we would not borrow money from you."
Her tone was different from before.
