Hailey's POV
We were now gathered in an open field, Azuri tied to a tree with chains of silver. She was in pain, stripped bare of any clothes. Her eyes were closed but her tears made their way out somehow, face wet from I'm sure are tears of a broken heart.
In all of my anger, I felt pity for her. She did not choose to love this mate of mine. Her heart decided for her and yes, they should not have fooled around with each other and created a bond that would eventually only affect Azuri, while Jaxon gets away unscathed by love.
I shift back to my human body, the bones snapping back always seem to shock me every damn time... The one thing I doubt I will ever get used to...
With that said, I was now one with my wolf.
Her feelings were mine and my feelings were hers... she agreed with me on feeling bad for the girl chained up in front of us.
This was the result of a boy who could not keep it in his pants long enough to wait for his mate. He rushed life and one thing I could not do is punish Azuri alone for this. Jaxon deserves just as much of my wrath as Azuri.
Jaxon needs to pay for his actions, maybe some time alone, without Azuri, without me. Maybe then will he grow into the man his pack needs, the man I will need to father our children.
"Jaxon, Azuri will be transferred to my pack. If she is as good of a warrior as you all say then I will use her as my personal guard. She will in the future be the one to guard and protect any children we have. So, she will not die today." I say and I hear Jaxon let out a breath that he was holding, waiting for his friend's death.
"This is a matter that should be discussed by all alphas present." Jaxon's father says but Jaxon places his hand on his dad's shoulder to quiet him.
"Don't make her change her mind. Zuri will live, that is all that matters." Jaxon says and my heart aches at that nickname. He has not given me one yet, not one pet name.
Jaxon looks at me, he takes one step forward but quickly steps back.
"I know, I have not acted accordingly and for that, I apologize." He says to me, making Cayden chuckle.
