~~~Some people live their dreams. Some people close their eyes. Some people's destiny passes by. There are no guarantees, there are no alibis. That's how our love must be, don't ask why. It takes some time, God knows how long. I know that I can forget you as soon as my heart stops breakin', anticipating. As soon as forever is through, I'll be over you~~
Everyone who gathered around us to gossip nodded their head as a sign of agreement.
"He just agreed to marry you because you seduced him and you got pregnant!"
"Of course, not," I said confidently with a shrug. "Where did you get that false information? I didn't seduce him. I would never do such a thing." I uttered in a 'duh' tone which just added to her irritation. I can see the flare starting to blow up from her nose.
"You're such a liar!"
And to add bitterness to her already suffering ego, I came up with thoughts without even thinking what the consequences might be in the future.
"You were there when he openly stated that I'm still his wife, right? So what the hell are you saying I should stay away from my 'husband'? He loves me, I still love him and we are still married, so for the two of us, I should be the one to warn you to stay away from him. Stay away from my husband, bitch!"
I didn't just stop there. I took a step closer to her and returned the warning she had told me earlier.
"And now that I've found out we're still married, this time we are going to fix our relationship, so I suggest you to stay away from him because if not, I'll make sure we'll see each other in court. And by the way, do you still remember what I told you before? He's mine and as long as I carried his name, he will always be mine and forever mine!" I ended my speech with a winning smirk.
But instead of talking back, she remained silent and to my surprise, tears started to roll down her cheeks that made my mouth agape. She just threw me a death glare before running away and disappearing from my sight.
"Whoa! I couldn't believe she ran away!" I muttered under my breath as my eyes followed her retreating back outside the boutique. -'See? You really love to embarrass yourself!'-
At that moment, I have no idea that there were two other people who heard everything I said. The first was my best friend who immediately came out of the fitting room as soon as she heard the noise coming from the selling area. She just decided not to interfere and see how would I deal with Cherry by that time. And the second person hid himself behind the other gossipers and just listened to our conversation with no intention of revealing or showing himself.
"What took you so long?" I asked the moment Jack approached me. She still has the pair of sleepwear she said she would try on earlier. "You missed what happened---"
"Nope, I saw everything." She said glancing at the nightgown that was worn by the mannequin.
"What do you mean you saw---wait, you mean you witnessed what happened? You knew Cherry was here earlier?"
"Yup, I told you I saw everything and I heard what you told her." She replied without looking at me.
"I thought you were in the fitting room the whole time?"
"Yes I've been there for a few minutes and was just about to take off my shirt when I heard some noises outside, so I decided to go out and check what's going on here and there I saw you and Cherry having a catfight."
Confusion began to creep over me not from what she said but from the way she said it. I'm not sure if it was disappointment that laced in her voice.
"Why did you tell her those lies?" She asked and this time she turned to me.
"I thought you said you saw everything?"
"I did."
"Then what lies are you talking about that I told her?"
"Sam..." She paused, staring at me for a few seconds and then sighed loudly. "You played on her feelings, you played on her emotions."
"What? I-I didn't play on her feelings!" I was surprised at the things I was hearing from her at the moment. "She suddenly appeared in front of me. She was the first to annoy the hell out of me!"
"Whether it's you who approached her or it's her who started the fight, it's wrong to play in her emotions."
"And what did I tell her?"
"You told her the opposite of the things you told me at the coffee shop a few days ago. As I remember, you said you can't be with him and you'll make sure that this time you're going to end your marriage and yet you told her that Luke is yours, he is your husband, he will be forever yours and that she's nothing but a mistress."
"Because it's true, she still a mistress! Besides, have you forgotten that she took him away from me?"
"Yes, but you were the first to take him from her, remember? She was his fiancée before the night bar incident happened."
"You're right, she's just his fiancée and they're not married yet, so she didn't have any legal documents confirming Luke was her! So that means, I didn't steal anything or anyone from her!"
"Haist!" She stared at me after letting out a frustrated sigh.
"But now, I still have the right to accuse her as a mistress!"
"Yeah, we all know that, especially that you just found out you're still married to him, but what's the point of telling her those words? You said you love David and you can't be with Luke anymore, but what if that woman tells your husband all the words you said to her? Don't you think you'll just ignite his desire to take you again---to be with you again?"
"Then I'll deny everything! I guess it's time for me to take revenge. I will trample his feelings as he did to me before and that woman, I'll make sure she suffers the consequences of messing with me back then and even until now!"
"Revenge? Whoa! Where does that word come from, forgodsake! How can you say you love David when even from the anger and bitterness, you haven't been able to move on?"
"Jack, are we really going to argue with this?"
"It's because---"
She didn't get the chance to continue what she was about to say when she was interrupted by the sound of something falling on the ground coming from behind the rack.
"What's that?" We asked each other in unison.
I shrugged as I also had no idea what's that noise all about. And then we decided to check behind the next rack and saw one of the shop mannequins fall to the floor. But my heart skipped beating for a few seconds when I caught a glimpse of a man wearing a black jacket walking away from that area.
-'David?'- I murmured under my breath. I only saw his back and soon he disappeared on the sea of gossipers that also gathered to check what happened.
